Strike 144

[It will be the most special being.]

At this notification, Hyun-soo’s heart fluttered.

Hyun-soo had always thought about it.

Himself seated on a throne, with a powerful wolf with sleek fur standing guard beside him.

Nel swallowed hard as she watched.

“The Guardian of the Guild Bright Future has finally been born.”

Nel had always heard stories from Hyun-soo about the guardian wolf within the egg.

Be it a guild or a domain, or on a larger scale, a kingdom or empire, each has its guardian monsters.

It is truly marvelous that beings with symbolic meaning become guardians.

Then, the egg completely cracked open, revealing its inhabitant.

The being, with its pure white fur, stood majestically upon arrival.

With a gaze as if embracing everything, the being roared powerfully towards the world.

“Mang!”

“……?”

“……?”

Nel and Hyun-soo were puzzled.

The being from within the wolf’s egg.

It seemed imposing (?) but was actually not.

It was slightly larger than a palm.

Its black nose was dripping, and its perked-up ears moved endlessly with curiosity.

“This breed is……”

Nel was shocked.

It was a very famous breed that everyone in Korea would know.

“Why is there a Shih Tzu coming out of a wolf’s egg……?”

Shih Tzu.

A fancy term commonly used to describe a white puppy.

“Hehe……”

Finally meeting Hyun-soo, the creature’s tiny, cute tail wagged fast like a helicopter.

“Cute……”

But as Nel tried to touch it, the creature barked loudly again.

[The creature roars.]

“Mang!”

Are the roar we know and this “roar” the same?

Anyway, flustered, Hyun-soo carefully picked up the creature with both hands.

Sure enough, its tail wagged vigorously.

[The creature likes it.]

Then, it started dripping from its nose again.

Hyun-soo gently wiped it off and soon got over his initial shock.

“What are you good at……?”

It’s too early to be disappointed.

Hyun-soo checked the creature’s information.

As Hyun-soo asked what it was good at, he felt the creature gently licking his nose.

“So, you’re best at eating well, sleeping well, and pooping well, huh?”

“Mangmang!”

“Hahaha……”

“Hohohoho……”

But soon, there was something that surprised Hyun-soo.

“It seems to unlock new powers tailored for me. Even some have already been unlocked.”

“What are they?”

“The effect of the crafted artifact increases by 2%. Also, its potential is infinite, and it unlocks a new power with each growth.”

“Infinite?”

Nel was astonished.

She had never heard of a being with infinite potential, not even from pets or named NPCs.

She could also think this way:

“It increases the effect of an artifact by 2% as soon as it’s born……”

Both of them understood.

They couldn’t yet fully grasp what this creature was capable of.

An increase of 2% in the artifact’s effect was more significant than imagined.

As they nurtured the creature, they would discover what kind of powers it truly possessed.

[Please name it.]

“They’re asking us to name it.”

With a confident expression, Nel said,

“I’m good at naming things, you know.”

Hyun-soo was expectant.

Nel, who effectively was the brain of the Guild Bright Future, confidently suggested,

“Puppy?”

“……?”

[The creature dislikes it.]

The creature’s reaction was the same as Hyun-soo’s.

“What about General? Tofu? Kancho?”

[The creature dislikes it.]

The deflated Shih Tzu looked at Nel with an absurd expression.

Then, as Hyun-soo observed the creature, he suggested,

“Um… We’ve just acquired a domain, and for a name that means ‘blessing for everyone,’ how about ‘Lucky’?”

[The creature likes it.]

“Mang!”

“Oh, it likes that.”

Nel looked disappointed.

“Angela? Handsome?”

[The creature dislikes it.]

The creature yawned broadly in his arms.

It was an overt expression of disapproval.

“Let’s go with ‘Lucky’.”

[You have named it Lucky.]

Hyun-soo could see Lucky laid down on the floor, belly up, revealing its pink belly.

As he reached out his hand, the creature seemed pleased and playfully nibbled at Hyun-soo’s fingers with its cute teeth.

‘This isn’t so bad.’

Hyun-soo smiled softly.

Then he noticed it was the appointed time.

Of course, it was still within Ares.

The person he was supposed to meet was Ian.

‘He’s going to produce my video……’

With a small smile, Hyun-soo stroked the sleeping Lucky’s head in the center of the audience hall and walked on.

***

Hyun’s Forge was still shrouded in secrecy.

Masterpiece creation. After producing the first legend above legends, Hyun’s Forge had reached this level.

[Hyun’s Forge subscribers: 1,310,013.]

[Currently ranked 7th among Korean forges in terms of subscribers.]

Articles about the still-veiled Hyun’s Forge were plentiful.

One of the most frequently appearing articles was this:

[Hyun’s Forge. What is the secret to being able to create a legend above legends?]

Hence, there were many articles like this one:

[The world’s best blacksmiths. They refuse to acknowledge the current reasons until they are revealed.]

Thus, Hyun’s Forge was being denied.

Especially, the criticism from other blacksmiths was intense.

Hyun-soo sat on a chair in front of Ian.

‘The reason Hyun’s Forge was hidden was because of the danger.’

Because he still couldn’t protect this power.

But now, Hyun’s Forge was preparing to come into the world.

Ian said,

“The more people criticize, the more suspicion grows around you, Hyun-soo, the better it is.”

Ian had once been an editor and at another time a broadcaster.

He was quite capable at the broadcasting station and exceptional as an editor.

“People are like that. They passionately criticize until they understand, and then they passionately change. Moreover, people like stories more than you think. If the story is made with talent and effort, they will quickly change.”

Ian had agreed to shoot a video once.

At Hyun-soo’s request for his first greeting, Hyun-soo thought for a while and then said,

“I wanted to live.”

That was the first line of the video.

Besides, Hyun-soo calmly explained the reasons why Hyun’s Forge had concealed its identity.

After the shooting ended, Ian said.

“I actually planned to make just one video for you, Hyun-soo, but I’ve changed my mind. I want to nurture Hyun-soo’s image and continue to produce videos for you.”

Hyun-soo smiled wryly. He wasn’t embarrassed, and Ian knew the reason too.

“I too feel good just watching. It’s amazing that someone from the very bottom has become the protagonist of the World Message through their own will and skill,” Ian confidently said.

“This video will be released when the criticism and doubt about you have peaked,” Ian predicted, unable to even imagine the impact it would have then. ‘The secret was purely skill.’

“Moreover, starting with this first video, if we occasionally upload videos of your creations, views could range from millions to tens of millions.” It wasn’t impossible. After all, videos of mukbang BJ’s eating reach millions of views. Hyun-soo could generate tremendous revenue.

“For that to happen, the first video must end successfully, and we must give viewers a ‘reason’ to watch.”

Every internet broadcast has a reason. Depending on what that reason is, subscriber numbers can change. It might be unfair, but reasons could be as simple as someone being good-looking, eating well, or speaking eloquently. And Hyun-soo realized this reason.

“You’re talking about the reason being that I’m the only manual creator,” Hyun-soo caught on.

Ian nodded. “Exactly. You create in ways those using mechanical methods cannot match.”

Ian was cautious. He already knew Hyun-soo’s story. Yet, there was still essential content needed for the video if possible.

“We need a video produced in reality.”

That meant they needed actual armaments created by Hyun-soo in reality.

Hyun-soo looked down at his right hand. He was still training to get used to using his left hand, as his right could only perform at 60% compared to its past capability.

To achieve what Ian was talking about, he needed his right hand to function at 100% like before.

“I’ll talk to the doctor about it.”

“I’m sorry if that was asking too much.”

But Ian’s proposal was for the good of Hyun-soo and the Guild Bright Future, so Hyun-soo wasn’t upset.

“If production becomes feasible, what should I make?” Hyun-soo asked.

Ian smiled slightly.

‘Confidence and expectation are visible.’

It was the confidence Hyun-soo had if he could use his right hand, even briefly.

Ian then said, “Once Hyun’s Forge comes out from behind the veil, it will become a global issue. The first video will be seen by people all around the world. The truth is, the general public doesn’t notice the small differences in what is made.”

It’s a clear fact. They don’t know how impressive a sword is, how smoothly it was made, or why it’s remarkable.

“Therefore, it would be good if the armament either has a unique appearance or a special story. It would also be better if it’s an issue that only you, Hyun-soo, can create right now.”

Although Ian said this, he knew it was not an easy condition to fulfill.

Then Hyun-soo grinned. “There happens to be such a sword.”

Happens to be? Ian looked puzzled.

“Didn’t you see the news recently?”

News?

Ian thought hard for a moment. ‘Wait, now that I think about it…’

He recalled the news he had seen. ‘An ancient relic discovered in Daejeon is drawing attention. The relic, believed to be from the Three Kingdoms period and found there, is from Baekje and is mostly damaged beyond recognition…’

Ian’s eyes widened. He hadn’t considered that something from the Three Kingdoms period could be recreated.

Soon Hyun-soo grinned. “I’ll try making Baekje’s Seven-Branched Sword (Chiljido).”
