Round 284

A Mythic-Level Item.

I was absolutely stunned to encounter a mythic-level item. Up until now, I thought legendary items were the highest tier.

“Ah, this was the dungeon of the Seven Deadly Sins.”

The Seven Deadly Sins had never been conquered before. If anything, I was the only one who had ever attempted it.

However, even I hadn’t defeated the Seven Deadly Sins to know about the existence of mythic-level items.

Perhaps Mammon, Ras, and Ashu might also possess mythic-level items.

“A crown, boots, and what about Ashu?”

I roughly guessed the relics of the other children. Could Ashu’s be a spatula? A pot?

In any case, it was an incredible item. Especially the ability to mimic 100% of the absorbed items was quite astonishing.

It seems it can even absorb and mimic items of the same mythic level.

The ability to change appearance was also appealing.

‘I thought Kyler’s disguise was impressive, but now I can do it too, just with this.’

I had some expectations for the relic, but what came out was far more amazing than I anticipated.

“What is it!”

“Wow! It looks cool, sister!”

Suddenly, Ara, with the red slime, or rather the Relic of Gluttony, placed on her head.

All good, but…

We don’t have any helmet items to feed the relic.

“Ara, can you try changing your appearance?”

“What is that?”

Ara tilted her head, seemingly not understanding my words.

It seemed Ara didn’t know about the item’s functions.

‘How did she even know it was something to wear on the head?’

It’s baffling.

First, I took the hat from Ara.

Then I put it on my head and tried using the appearance change ability.

Wriggle.

The relic on my head moved.

Soon, it covered my face and settled softly.

“Oh.”

I was momentarily startled, but the relic stuck to my face felt like nothing.

Really no feeling at all!

“Did it work properly?”

“Wow! You’ve changed!”

“It’s a transformation! Transformation!”

For a moment, Cheong’s word sounded like a curse word.

What was I thinking to teach pure Cheong…

“How about it? Did it change well?”

“Yes! You now have a thick beard!”

“Who is this? It’s scary!”

Ara and Cheong looked at me with excitement and wide eyes.

It’s a pity there’s no mirror.

I stroked my chin, feeling the beard that fit so naturally.

“Wow, this is really fascinating.”

“Me too! I want to try! The beard!”

“The beard!”

The transformation seemed to have no time limit.

Undoing the transformation was simple.

Definitely a fascinating ability.

“Here.”

“Wow!”

I handed it back to Ara, who immediately disguised herself.

She grew a beard just like mine.

“Puhaha.”

The sight was so incongruous it made me laugh. But looking closely, it seemed oddly fitting.

“How can our Ara look cute even with a beard…”

“Ho! Ho! Ho!”

Ara laughed like Santa, stroking the beard as if she liked it, like a generous grandfather.

Although it’s a mythic-level item…

It had become just a toy for us.

‘What would other people think?’

While chuckling at Ara’s ridiculous appearance, Cheong also gave it a try.

Cheong thought deeply with a serious expression and then transformed into a completely different person.

“How is it?”

“Wow.”

To anyone, it was not Cheong.

Still cute, but a completely different look.

“Who is this! It’s not Cheong!”

“It’s Cheong!!”

So, we spent some time taking turns playing with disguises.

What we learned was that we couldn’t change our gender.

However, we could deceive age.

“I’ve become an old man!”

“It’s a grandfather!”

White hair and fine wrinkles.

This time, we tried becoming younger.

“Yuck, it’s weird. It’s strange.”

“It’s weird…”

It was possible to transform into the face of an elementary school student, but not into a newborn. However, the body size or proportions could not be significantly altered, which resulted in a somewhat grotesque appearance. Nevertheless, it was impressive that there was any transformation at all, not just the face but the whole body.

“This is a gift, a gift!”

“Huh? Oh!”

I had completely forgotten about Emily’s quest.

“Hmm.”

The quest required taking the item. I wasn’t sure exactly how to complete the quest, but if it involved completely handing over the item, that would be a bit tricky.

“I’ll just have to check.”

Time had passed quickly while we were engrossed with the relic.

Upon exiting the cave, I found that Kyler, his daughter, and the other family members had already arrived in the village.

Emily was enthusiastically splashing around with the slimes at the waterfall and gorge.

“Ah! Ara! Cheong!”

“Emily! Look at this!”

Ara, holding up the relic, dashed towards her, followed quickly by Cheong.

“This is truly an amazing place, Mr. Kyu-seong.”

“Ah, Kyler, have you had a good look around?”

“Yes. Thanks to you, I’m having lots of new experiences. I’ve traveled through dungeons all over the world, but I’ve never seen a place like this.”

Hmm, to hear such words from Kyler, known as a wanderer, made me quite proud.

“But there are still many areas I haven’t discovered.”

“……What?”

“I’ve been a bit lazy lately, focusing more on farming in the village than exploring.”

As I awkwardly laughed, Kyler’s expression filled with bewilderment.

“I haven’t fully grasped how big the dungeon is yet.”

“Ah!”

Suddenly, Kyler’s expression brightened.

Wondering why, I waited for him to speak, and he confidently said,

“I’ll explore it.”

“What? Oh!”

“While you farm and manage the village, I’ll travel through the dungeon and record everything.”

“That sounds good!”

Kyler was a Level 9 awakener. There was little danger for him.

Furthermore, it seemed fine for Emily to occasionally join him on these trips, enjoying father-daughter outings.

We had plenty of camping supplies and food.

And Kyler likely had much more experience camping and surviving in the wilderness than I did.

‘It’s not just experience; he’s practically an expert.’

Worrying about Kyler was like worrying about a fish drowning.

I needed to see Emily. Though I hadn’t mentioned it to Kyler, he seemed to pay little attention to the kids, but my focus was entirely on them.

“Is there something wrong?”

Kyler, sensing something, shifted his gaze towards the children and asked me.

“Just a moment.”

I went over to the kids.

I saw Ara showing off the Relic of Gluttony to Emily.

“Ta-da!”

“Wow, what’s that? It looks cute.”

“It’s a hat!”

“A hat?”

“Try it on!”

Just as Ara handed the relic to Emily, I noticed Emily hesitate.

“Huh?”

She looked around, puzzled, as if searching for us.

“Is it a quest?”

I rushed over to Emily, and Kyler followed me without understanding why.

“What happened?!”

Emily responded to my abrupt question,

“Uh, um, the quest is complete.”

“Great!”

A quest completed just by holding the item!

I somewhat understood it. Holding the Relic of Gluttony in such a unique situation would have been impossible otherwise.

‘To obtain a relic of the Seven Deadly Sins, you’d have to defeat them or scour every corner of the dungeon.’

But the dungeon of the Seven Deadly Sins was a level nine dungeon. As powerful as Emily was as a level eight awakener, it was nearly impossible.

So, merely holding the relic was as good as obtaining it in such circumstances.

“You cleared the quest?”

Kyler, finally catching on to our conversation, muttered with a dazed expression.

Then, Kyler looked at the relic in Emily’s hand.

“Is that the relic…?”

“Ha, haha, surprise!”

I spread my arms wide with a bright smile.

Kyler gave me a dazed look and then swallowed hard.

“Mr. Kyu-seong, what exactly…”

“Uh, um. It’s a misunderstanding.”

It was just coincidentally that the quest was resolved. Everyone wins. Hahaha.

But Kyler’s trembling eyes couldn’t stop.

After completing the relic quest, Emily experienced exponential growth. She unlocked an ability called ‘Aura’, which allowed her to use sword energy using mana.

“Wow.” It felt like something out of a novel or game brought to life.

Emily was swirling a wooden sword made from the World Tree branches, wrapped in aura, here and there.

Screech.

Hard rocks were being cut as easily as tofu.

The surreal scene didn’t feel dangerous at all. It was almost unbelievable.

“Wow.” Even Kyler, watching from the side, looked dumbfounded.

And Seon-ah was sending admiring glances from beside.

“I wish I had awakened such a cool ability when I awakened.”

“Be thankful you awakened at all, talentless sister.”

Though calling him talentless was pot calling the kettle black, we watched Sword Master Emily’s dance for a while.

Despite rarely moving her body and having never held a sword before, she moved as gracefully as if she had trained for decades.

Clap clap clap clap.

“You’re amazing, Emily!”

“So cool!”

‘I awakened her. And I nurtured her growth too! I really have become a hero maker.’

I chuckled to myself, satisfied as Emily, who had finished her sword swinging, ran over with a bright smile.

“This is so cool!”

“Our Emily speaks Korean like a native now.” Seon-ah said with a contented smile like mine.

Ah, that made me curious about Emily’s next quest.

“Emily, do you know what your next quest is?”

“Oh! Just a minute.” Seeing Emily grow was satisfying in a way.

I’m just a liquid synthesizer, no, a Slime Overlord who summons and merges slimes every day…

‘Feels like nurturing a super OP character!’

Emily checked her quest and read it clearly.

“Training to become a hero! Duel with five different individuals of level 9 or higher!”

“Ah.”

This one was going to be tough.

Kyler, hearing the details, showed a troubled look.

“I can take one, but the other four…”

First, the great witch Katrina. Maybe she’d agree if I asked?

That leaves three more…

‘Wow, this is tough.’

Emily’s quests, even the early ones, presented insane difficulties. The second quest, stealing the relic, was nearly impossible. If someone unrelated to me had received such a quest, they’d likely never complete it.

“Kyler. Are you not well-acquainted with other level 9 awakeners?”

“Um, we are old acquaintances. The kind who draw weapons as soon as we see each other.”

“Kyler. What kind of life have you led?”

This made things incredibly difficult.

Should I personally request deals with level 9 awakeners using my crops?

But there was a concern.

The quest clearly stated duels, but what if a deranged level 9 awakener decided to go all out?

‘No way!’

Our Emily! Not a hair on her head should be harmed!

Suddenly, Ara, who was next to us, approached Emily and took a boxing stance.

“Bring it on, Emily!”

“Uh? Ah, Ara?”

Emily, looking bewildered, soon gave a troubled smile and patted Ara’s head.

However, Ara, seemingly serious, or perhaps comically, shook her body and made whooshing noises with her mouth.

“Whoosh! Bring it on!”

“Uh?”

Wait a minute.

I realized there was no need to specifically look for level 9 awakeners!

The quest specifically stated individuals of level 9 or higher skills.

So…

“Ara, Ras, Mammon, Ashu.”

And finally, Kyler.

Huh.

Quest complete, right?
