Round 151

Prev | TOC | Next

The taste was absolutely shocking. I didn’t even realize my bowl was empty. Surely, no one came and licked my bowl clean. I must have devoured it without noticing.

“Sniffle.”

Our bear-like Jae-seong was shedding tears like chicken droppings. But having tasted the golden carrot soup myself, I understood why he was crying.

-Growl.

Speaking of bears, an actual bear appeared. Looking half-asleep, Gomgom extended its arms towards me, as if a baby wanting to be held, but I knew what it meant.

‘Give me some!’

-Growl!

‘I’m threatening you right now! Give me something delicious!’

Maybe it wasn’t what the Gomgom meant, but it certainly looked that way to me.

Anyway, while getting another bowl of soup for myself, I prepared one for Gomgom as well.

“Gasp!”

Turning around, I saw Junichi gasping for breath as if he’d just come back to life.

“C-Carrot Sun!”

“We must worship the golden carrot sun!”

He was completely out of it. But thankfully, he spoke in Korean.

‘Isn’t that a relief?’

I checked on the other kids. They were all inhaling their food with their faces buried in their plates. Even the usually carefree ones seemed tense this time.

“What on earth did I create?”

Of course, I didn’t make it. The slimes grew the ingredients, and Jae-seong cooked the soup.

“Can I have another bowl?!”

Ara, in her tiger pajamas, was glaring intensely. Those pajamas were starting to look scary. The commotion didn’t die down for a while.

Once things calmed down a bit, I started to notice some changes after eating the carrot soup.

[Your magic rank has increased.]

I vaguely saw this message flash by. Unlike quest or item notifications, these system messages can’t be seen again once they pass. Such an unfriendly system.

Jae-seong, being an awakened first-rank like me, must have had his rank increase too, but he didn’t mention anything. He probably missed it in the chaos.

After finishing three plates, Ara finally seemed to come to her senses, holding her spoon with trembling hands and making strange noises.

“What’s wrong, Ara? Did something go wrong?”

“…I want to eat more. But I must share!”

Ara said, lifting her spoon high. She looked so proud and adorable that I just wanted to hug her tight.

In the end, I asked Ara for permission.

“Ara, can I nuzzle your cheeks?”

“Hmm! You may!”

Nuzzle nuzzle.

Oh, our sweet Ara. I’ll keep making delicious food for you!

I thought of learning some cooking from Jae-seong before he leaves, for Ara’s sake. Meanwhile, others were starting to come to their senses.

“Ahem. Did I do anything embarrassing?”

Junichi asked awkwardly. I considered mentioning his fainting and worshiping the golden carrot sun in Korean but decided against it.

“Nothing happened.”

“Phew. That’s a relief. That was a terrifying dish.”

“Was it not to your liking?”

“No way! The golden carrot sun deserves to be worshiped!”

He still seemed a bit out of it.

Meanwhile, Jae-seong and Orie were deep in conversation in English. From what I could gather with my limited English skills, they were already reviewing and analyzing the food.

… So that’s what it takes to be elite. Seeing them dive right into this even after eating that insane carrot soup made me think they were truly relentless.

I had initially served the slimes and the kids large portions on big plates, and they were almost done. Despite their fullness, none of them backed down, eating every last bit.

-ROAR!

“Gomgom?”

Gomgom had transformed into a ferocious beast, standing before me with outstretched arms. Ara scooped and served him another bowl of soup by herself.

“Have another bowl.”

-Growl!

Gomgom seemed satisfied.

I scratched my head and checked the remaining soup. Each large pot held 200 servings. Originally, there were five pots, which means I had made slightly over 800 servings.

Now, there were about three and a half pots left. So, they had consumed nearly 150 servings.

The slimes and kids had hearty appetites, so the quantity decreased quickly. However, I had set aside portions for the goblins, the guild, and my family, so there was no need to worry.

“Brother, we’re not going to get another special crop like this, are we?” Jae-seong asked with a desperate look. Staring like that won’t make another crop appear suddenly.

“It wasn’t just a random comment; we were really lucky this time. But if something similar happens again, I’ll contact you right away.”

“Hehe, thanks.”

Seeing Jae-seong’s gentle smile, I glanced around and noticed all the bowls were clean. They still seemed to want more, but I had to save the rest for the others.

I wondered when I should deliver it. The sooner, the better…

As I thought about it, I suddenly wondered what time it was. I heard that Junichi had to leave this evening.

“What?!”

“What’s wrong?”

“The time…”

It was already past 6 PM.

Seeing the time, Junichi looked surprised.

“When did the time… We arrived at 6 AM…”

Time had flown by with the village tour, farm work, and the memorable carrot soup feast. It made sense since we were lost in thought for quite a while.

“Guys, please clean this up and store it carefully so it doesn’t spill.”

“Got it!”

I quickly led the group out of the dungeon. As we stepped outside, the sky was already dark.

“Today was truly meaningful. We’ve created unforgettable memories. Thank you, Kyu-seong. And this is the drink I was going to give you earlier but didn’t get the chance.”

Before we parted ways, Junichi grabbed my hand and bowed repeatedly. Then, he suddenly handed me a bottle of alcohol.

Should I give this to my father? Come to think of it, I’ve never given him a drink made from my crops.

Anyway, I expressed my thanks and secretly handed Junichi something I had prepared.

“What is this…?”

“It’s only 50ml, but please accept it if you don’t mind. It’s so small that it doesn’t even register as an item.”

“No, no, such a gift…”

It was a small container crafted by the Alfheims. Originally, it had contained the dew of the World Tree, but I had put some aside to use as gifts. Inside, I had placed some golden carrot soup, giving one to Junichi, Orie, and Jae-seong. They looked like they wanted to open and lick it immediately but were barely holding back.

“See you next time.”

“Goodbye!”

“Thank you! Thank you, Kyu-seong! Next time, we’ll treat you at our restaurant!”

“Goodbye. Bye-bye, Ara!”

“Brother, let’s meet at home with the family next time. We’re leaving now since we’re busy today.”

Waving until they disappeared into a taxi, I felt the fun of the day.

“It was fun!”

“Really? That’s a relief. Let’s go take care of the goblins now.”

“Okay!”

Knowing in advance about Junichi’s visit, I had asked the goblins to stay in the village for a while. By now, it was time for dinner, and they must be hungry.

‘Hehe.’

Imagining the satisfaction they’d get from the golden carrot soup when they’re already hungry was delightful.

“Carrot soup! Carrot Candies!”

“Oh, right. Jae-seong made some candied carrots with the remaining carrots before he left. We should try that too.”

The quantity was small, so not everyone could eat it. It was unfortunate, but the candied carrots were for Ara and me.

“Let’s go eat!”

“Candies!”

***

Johann couldn’t get the carrot soup he had the day before out of his mind. The potato fries Kyu-seong had made earlier were delicious, but the soup left a lasting impression.

So, without any shame, he contacted someone. Fortunately, they were free and invited him to visit anytime.

“I haven’t seen Sung-hyuk take two days off in years.”

Arriving at the meeting place, Johann wasn’t alone. With him was Choi Sung-hyuk, the Exterminator who had the soup with him the previous day, and his older brother, Director Choi.

“I can’t believe my little brother took two days off. Use up your accumulated leave.”

“I’m only resting today, Brother.”

Despite being called the Exterminator, Choi Sung-hyuk shyly smiled and pointed awkwardly.

“They came out to greet us.”

They had arrived at the Ara Hongryeon Guild. Johann and Choi Sung-hyuk, curious about other dishes aside from the carrot soup, had come all the way here.

“Welcome, Guild Leader Johann.”

“Sorry for the sudden contact and visit, Guild Leader Han Seok-jun.”

“No problem. There’s no need to feel burdened between allied guilds.”

Allied guilds…

Johann recalled a recent report. Contrary to initial expectations, Ara Hongryeon’s growth curve was much steeper.

At this rate, they might catch up with the third-ranked Go-Joseon Guild before the end of the year and establish a triad of powerful guilds with Terror, Iron Blood, and Ara Hongryeon.

‘There’s no stopping them.’

The only possibility was to wait until the contract between Kyu-seong and Ara Hongryeon ended next year. But it was uncertain how much more Ara Hongryeon would grow by then.

“The timing is perfect,” Han Seok-jun said with a smile as Johann pondered for a moment.

“What do you mean by perfect timing?”

“Actually, I just received a message from Kyu-seong that he will be visiting the guild soon. It seems he’s bringing something special.”

“Special…?”

For Kyu-seong to say something is special? Considering he always has incredible ingredients, it was hard not to be excited.

“The timing really is great. From what I’ve heard, Awakener Lee Kyu-seong rarely leaves his place…”

“You seem to have a lot of interest in our Kyu-seong.”

“Haha. We always keep a close eye on the affairs of Ara Hongryeon Guild, which is currently at its peak. I apologize if that made you uncomfortable.”

Johann responded smoothly and then introduced the people next to him, realizing belatedly.

“You must know Director Choi, and you’ve met Awakener Choi Sung-hyuk before, right?”

“Yes, we’ve met a few times.”

Han Seok-jun extended his hand for a friendly handshake, which Choi Sung-hyuk reciprocated with a smile.

“It’s been a while, Guild Leader Han Seok-jun.”

“How have you been, Sung-hyuk?”

Despite the greeting, Choi Sung-hyuk seemed distracted by something else. Noticing this, Han Seok-jun grinned and said,

“Shall we head inside? Our Kyu-seong is almost here.”

“Sounds good.”

Right after arriving in Kahara, the city of the old gods, the wizard of the Red Tower, Liyan, Seolrang, and the Golden Mane tribe decided to wait near the entrance, where they had the best view of the city.

Of course, Seolrang and Evan tried to follow Alon, but Alon left them at the entrance and went down into the city alone.

There was only one reason for that.

[Since you can hear the voice, you’ve at least shown a minimum level of respect. Come alone to the central tower of Kahara.]

This was because, as soon as Alon entered Kahara, he heard a voice whispering such words to him.

Naturally, he had no idea whose voice it was that whispered into his ear.

Though he had been to this city more than dozens of times, never before had a voice like this echoed in his mind.

However, instinctively, he realized that it had something to do with the words left behind by a mysterious being. Without hesitation, he moved forward and finally arrived at the center of Kahara.

It was less of a forgotten city and more fitting to describe it as a fortress, given how tall the tower was, especially for an underground structure.

Staring at the tower blankly, Alon soon walked inside.

Upon entering, what greeted him was a spiral staircase leading upward.

Without a word, Alon began to climb the stairs.

Flare!

As he ascended the staircase, the lights began to ignite one by one, as if to illuminate his path.

Though it was a situation he had never seen in the game, which made him hesitate momentarily, that was all.

Following the lights, Alon continued his steps, and eventually, when he reached the top of the long staircase, he found a massive room.

Rat-a-tat-tat~!!!

Along with the activation of a magic circle, he saw the previously empty room fill with enormous bookshelves.

The bookshelves rose from the ground and soon covered the entire tower. At that moment, except for the sky and ground, there was no clear distinction between front and back.

[You’ve arrived.]

***

In fact, not all members of the Golden Mane tribe had an unusual affection for other bloodlines.

Of course, compared to other beastfolk, the Golden Manes had a relatively high species-wide affinity for each other.

Though it meant little now, the Golden Mane tribe had once stood at the top of the beastfolk hierarchy 500 years ago.

But even so, their affection wasn’t deeper than what they had for their own families.

They merely had a slightly higher affinity for one another than for other species, and that was it.

In the end, they were still strangers to each other.

Nevertheless, the reason why Seolrang was so obsessed with her kin and cherished the Golden Mane tribe so deeply was because of her past.

Her happiness lay in the past.

She had enjoyed the days spent living with her kin, found fulfillment in helping her father wrap up the day, and was happy to sit at the table in the evening, eating meals with her family.

The life she led in a community where only the Golden Mane tribe lived, where everyone was bound under the concept of kin, still remained a source of happiness for Seolrang.

That’s why Seolrang sought revenge against the ‘Black Dragon’ who shattered that happiness and aimed to gather her kin to reclaim it.

Her respect for the Great Moon also stemmed from that.

She believed that the essence of the Golden Mane tribe, which Alon had given her, could bring her both revenge and happiness once again.

And for her—

Crunch-!

“Huh?”

The death of one of the Golden Mane tribe was enough to drive her reason into a raging fury.

Right before her eyes, the body of her kin, who had been speaking just moments ago, crumbled so pitifully.

And at the same time, what appeared before her was—

“Hmph~ Is this all?”

It was none other than Malian.

“Nothing much.”

Malian of Baba Yaga.

With his hideous face twisted in grotesque pleasure, he threw aside the corpse of the Golden Mane tribe. At the same time, dozens of black-robed figures appeared behind him.

“What the—”

“Prepare for battle!”

At his command, the wizards of the Red Tower and the mercenaries he had hired raised their staffs with tense expressions. The previously relaxed faces of the Golden Mane tribe quickly turned to those of panic and fear.

And then—

“What do you think you’re doing?”

Malian, staring directly at Seolrang, who was making an unmistakably menacing expression, twisted his lips into a sneer and spoke.

“Are beastfolk truly this dumb? You’re asking me that question, in this situation?”

His voice was full of mockery, clear to anyone who heard it.

Upon hearing this, Seolrang narrowed her eyes, realizing there was no longer any need for words.

Crackle-!

Electricity erupted from her body, scattering in all directions, and her gleaming golden eyes locked onto Malian as her target.

“One.”

In that instant, Seolrang twisted her body, narrowly evading an attack brought on by an unsettling, instinctive feeling.

Boom~!

The ground exploded with a deafening sound, as if a massive meteor had crashed into it, leaving a gaping crater.

“Wow, you dodged that? You’re not just any ordinary opponent, huh?”

Soon, a man who had completely demolished the entrance, Kalman Arents, casually walked out of the dust with a deep grin.

Seeing Kalman stand next to Malian as if they had planned it, Seolrang let out a bitter laugh. The events that had just transpired allowed her to grasp the situation.

Seolrang clenched her fist tightly.

Crackle-!

Electricity sparked to life in response to her will. Her stance made it clear that no more conversation was necessary.

“Wait, wait! What is the meaning of this!? We are wizards of the Red Tower! And you all are from Baba Yaga, aren’t you!?”

Unlike Seolrang, one of the wizards of the Red Tower desperately shouted in an attempt to escape the situation. As Malian turned his gaze toward them, the wizard added,

“Hmm, Red Tower wizards, huh? I suppose it could cause some trouble if we mess with you.”

His words hung in the air.

“That’s right! If any harm comes to us now—”

“But.”

The wizard tried to continue, but Malian immediately interrupted, not allowing him even a moment’s respite.

“That would only be a problem if any of you made it out alive, wouldn’t it?”

With a twisted smile, Malian’s words made the wizard’s face go completely rigid. The wizard wasn’t foolish enough to misunderstand his meaning.

And so—

“Tsk, if only you hadn’t made such a fuss, none of this would’ve been necessary. Why did you have to make things difficult for everyone?”

“Now that I think about it, where’s that noble we’re supposed to take care of? He should’ve been with you, right?”

“Well, we can deal with that after we kill this one first.”

Kalman casually responded to Malian’s words and said,

“Now, let’s see.”

Black, sinister energy swirled around him, terrifying to anyone who saw it.

“Shall we run a little experiment?”

Boom-!

With that, the battle began, as Kalman hurled his fist toward Seolrang.

***

Alon, realizing that the voice that had echoed in his mind was now coming from directly in front of him, lifted his head. There, sitting at a desk, was a figure.

It was impossible to define its appearance.

To be exact, it seemed as though something was constantly disrupting any attempt to describe its form.

It looked human, beast-like, and monstrous all at once.

As Alon stared blankly at the figure, whose shadow seemed to shift infinitely, it spoke.

[Do not stare too long. You won’t be able to perceive my existence no matter how hard you try.]

With those words, Alon snapped out of his daze, remained silent for a moment, then asked,

“Who are you?”

[If you cannot even comprehend my form, what makes you think you can comprehend my name?]

“… Did you know I was coming?”

[How could I? Do you have any idea how long I’ve been trapped here?]

“Yet, you spoke as if you did know.”

[Not at all. Perhaps you were mistaken?]

Alon suddenly felt the urge to flick the head of the formless figure sitting before him, but he held back and spoke instead.

“I came here following the words of Ulthultus—or rather, of the mysterious entity.”

[Hmm. I had a hunch that might be the case.]

The figure responded in a slightly intrigued tone and continued.

[Did that being tell you its true name? …Well, it seems reasonable enough to think you’re worth testing.]

Alon fell silent for a moment as he watched the figure nod as if this conclusion was quite logical, then spoke again.

“…Testing what, exactly?”

[Testing your chance. I mean, an opportunity for you.]

“An opportunity…?”

As Alon muttered to himself, the figure elaborated.

[You seem to have many questions. Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with any answers right now. You lack the qualifications.]

“And what is that supposed to mean?”

Curious about a setting he had never encountered in the game, Alon asked further.

[To clarify in advance, it’s not my judgment you should be concerned with. Rather, it’s this world’s standards that determine your worth.]

After saying this, the figure seemed to ponder something for a moment before continuing.

[You probably don’t understand and have many questions. So I’ll explain it simply.]

It soon spoke again.

[Before long, another outsider will descend into this world. Deal with that being and return to me.]

“…And if I do?”

[Then you will have met the minimum requirements—the requirements to see me properly and have your questions answered.]

“So you’re saying I can’t learn anything right now?”

[Well, I can at least give you one hint.]

The figure, whose form was still too ambiguous to define, looked directly at Alon and smiled.

[Once you leave the tower, go and read the text at the easternmost end of this fortress. That should give you a general idea of the situation.]

“The text at the eastern end…” Alon murmured, and the figure dragged out its response before speaking again.

[Good, I’ve made my decision.]

[In fact, my explanation ends here, but since you’ve come all this way, I’ll share something interesting with you.]

Without giving Alon a chance to ask, the figure continued.

[In this world, beyond the use of incantations, there is a concept known as ‘Sulli’ (順理)—the natural order. Have you heard of it?]

“…?”

“Sulli?”

[Yes, and beyond that is ‘Self-manifestation’ (自性具現), but that’s still far beyond your reach.]

After murmuring to itself for a moment, the figure resumed explaining to Alon.

[Sulli is the foundation for what those in this world call magic, though the fools who wield it barely understand its basics. I can see that you’re better than they are, but you’re still using it incorrectly.]

The figure continued speaking as if it found the current situation amusing.

[The magic manifested through incantations follows the natural order. It’s not something you can just throw together haphazardly. Only by following the natural order, carefully constructing the incantation, and invoking the proper name can true magic be performed.]

The figure raised a finger and added:

[But even with this explanation, I doubt you’ll understand. So, as a gift, I’ll teach you the ‘Sulli’—the natural order.]

It concluded by saying:

[This is what true magic is.]

Katia’s world is always divided into two colors: black and white. It’s not a metaphor; the world she sees is literally split into just those two shades. Perhaps it was part of the process where all her senses became warped due to the divine protection forced upon her entire being.

Heat, cold, the flow of air, the texture of clothes, taste…

If she had never known such sensations from the beginning, it might have been easier. But after her initial vow, losing those senses made it all the more unbearable. Her body, numb to everything. Among all the ruined senses, only her eyes and ears remained intact. Even those, when they began to degrade due to the divine entity coiled within her, she could still vividly remember the despair, even though it happened so long ago.

The dead appeared black. The living appeared white. And when she looked at herself in the mirror, she always appeared gray.

A human who lived without dying. In a world divided into black and white, she alone existed in that state, as if isolated from the world. It was excruciatingly boring, to the point that she didn’t care what happened.

Until just a moment ago.

“Damn it!”

The Lionheart’s scream echoed beside her. A bullet, white enough to burn into her retina, flew straight at her and pierced her heart.

“Pain.”

A sensation she had long forgotten returned. In that instant, something no one had ever achieved—her divine presence, deeply rooted in her body, was suppressed by an external force. Her physical senses returned as well. Though it was only for the fleeting moment when her heart was pierced, in that brief second, colors returned to the world.

Vivid colors.

A scenery she thought she’d never see again appeared before her eyes. The black night sky, the pale light of the moon, the faces and expressions of the people, the air, the splattered blood around her. Not in black and white, but in their true colors—just like everyone else’s world.

And standing at the center of it all was a man named Aiden Kellerman, holding a revolver with smoke rising from the barrel, locking eyes with her.

Time seemed to melt and blend as his figure was etched under her eyelids. She made sure to capture that image firmly in her sight, as if even the time to blink would be a waste.

As the divine presence within her vanished, her body also lost its strength, collapsing. But still, she kept staring. Staring continuously. Until her consciousness faded and everything turned dark. Katia kept him in her sight, as if she would never let him go.

As usual, the cleanup was handled thoroughly. Rounding up the remnants, seizing smuggled weapons, and detaining the unconscious Katia—all of it was taken care of in just a few hours. Of course, even with such a neat resolution, there’s always at least one person who feels unsettled. In this case, it was Aiden, staring at his status screen with a deeply serious expression.

No one died, Noel was fine, and Aiden himself wasn’t injured—everything was wrapped up well. But to be precise, for Aiden, it was only “the beginning” from this point onward.

Quest Info

Act 1, <Crack in the Capital>

– You have formed a close relationship with key figures in the main scenario.

– Your existence is now officially part of the scenario. The scenario will be restructured around you.

The damage was already done. Aiden chuckled bitterly.

“It was something I never intended to do, but in the end, I did it.

Of course, having come this far, he doesn’t particularly regret it.

‘Without the protagonist, everyone dies anyway.’

Since that guy is gone, the only one who knows the future of the world and can prepare for it is Aiden.

More than anything, when the future unfolds without the protagonist, Aiden himself and his family will be caught up in it.

There’s no reason not to act.

He slapped his cheek with a loud smack and took a deep breath.

Now that the task is clear, it’s only natural to move more proactively than before.

Above all, ‘Nothing has followed the original story.’

Starting with the absence of the protagonist, the sudden appearance of Katia, the mystery of who is leading the arms smuggling, the strained relationship between the emperor and the second prince—none of it is as it was in the original.

The framework of the original story hasn’t strayed too far from what he knows, but the details filling it are worlds apart from his memory.

So, what’s needed right now is to catch up with the gap between this real world, where the cogs are misaligned, and the original world he knows.

Only then can he be prepared when the ‘first act begins in earnest.’

He already knows the rough progression.

But, he’ll have to scrutinize each of the characters involved in that episode.

Main Quest

Act 1: “Crack in the Capital”

Chapter 1 will soon begin!

Aiden narrowed his eyes, gazing sharply at the window that appeared before him.

“If it’s Chapter 1…”

It must be the “Ghost Knight” incident in the capital.

An organization involved in weapons smuggling forces this event to create chaos within the city.

Every night, at a fixed time, a ghostly knight clad in armor suddenly appears in the streets, terrifying the citizens.

The protagonist’s role is to eliminate this ghostly knight and ensure the citizens’ peace.

In the original story, it’s around this point that the protagonist meets Noel, marking the real start of the scenario.

Of course, Aiden himself has skipped that whole process and already taken the place of Noel’s fake husband.

“Aiden.”

“Thank you for your hard work.”

Just as the saying goes, “Speak of the tiger, and it will appear,” Noel entered the room, looking utterly exhausted.

It’s rare for her to show such fatigue, but the sheer scale of the tasks she had to manage likely explains it.

She probably had to clean up the mess caused by foreign royalty on her own, so it’s hard to imagine the extent of the workload she endured.

“How’s the princess doing?”

“Surprisingly, she’s cooperating quietly.”

Noel sighed as she removed her hat and brushed back her hair.

“Since there were no victims in the first place, we’ve decided not to make a bigger fuss about it and to keep things quiet for now.”

“Is that so.”

“It’s fortunate, though not entirely satisfying.”

As with Prince Daniel previously, royal authority is beyond imagination.

Honestly speaking, although both incidents were close to self-defense, it wouldn’t be surprising if some kind of threat were directed at Aiden, who had harmed two members of the Holy Kingdom’s royalty.

If the matter is being quietly settled, it’s not necessarily a bad outcome for Aiden.

“They mentioned sending an additional delegation from the Holy Kingdom to discuss related issues.”

“A delegation?”

“Leaving aside the matter of Princess Katia, the issue of Aiden’s control over divine power remains unresolved. It will take some time, but they plan to handle it formally, sending a large group.”

– That means…

A high-ranking official from the Holy Kingdom is coming.

To meet Aiden, they first sent a princess, and now they’re sending someone even more important…

Aiden’s mind briefly calculated the possibilities.

He already has a rough idea of which high-ranking official might come from the Holy Kingdom.

If such a person arrives as part of the delegation, Aiden’s task will be…

“That’s good news.”

“Pardon?”

Aiden gritted his teeth as he responded.

“I’ll make sure to collect all the debts from their side.”

After all, he was in a position where he had been provoked twice in a row by the Holy Kingdom’s royalty. If they had come this far, it wouldn’t be fair if he didn’t get something out of it.

Seeing Aiden’s expression, Noel’s lips curled slightly.

“Do you have a plan of some sort?”

“I do. Certainly.”

“…I’m looking forward to it, then.”

Just wait and see. He intended to make them experience something quite amusing.

As he repeated this determination to himself, Noel sighed and continued.

“And… Princess Katia has set a condition, agreeing to behave quietly for the time being.”

…It’s amusing that even behaving properly comes with conditions.

Still, he should hear her out.

“A condition?”

When Aiden asked in surprise, Noel scratched her cheek.

It was a sign that she, too, was baffled by the request.

“…She requested a meeting with you. She insisted you visit her, at least once.”

Aiden scratched his head, looking ahead.

When he heard that Katia was confined in the underground cell of the Imperial Headquarters, he expected a more hostile atmosphere.

However, the sight before him—Katia lying sprawled on the bed, lazily rolling around—quickly dismissed that expectation.

The previously showcased ferocity was nowhere to be seen, making her look more like a lazy cat…

“She seems… more free than expected?”

Given Katia’s personality, it wouldn’t have been surprising if every measure possible was used to restrain her.

Aside from being trapped in a room, there didn’t seem to be any other restrictions.

To Aiden’s remark, Noel responded with a wry smile.

“In fact, things were quite tense just a moment ago.”

“Is that so?”

“The moment I mentioned bringing you over, she calmed down.”

It was surprising that the princess, who had rampaged like a monster, became so docile just for a chance to meet him.

Instead of expressing his bewilderment, Aiden merely nodded slowly.

It wasn’t an incomprehensible reaction.

Quest Info

<Life is Beautiful>

– Katia Heinkel Craven desperately wants something from you. Help her feel ‘sensation’ as fully as possible!

★ You have succeeded in making the target feel ‘pain.’

You have wisely handled the incident. Speak with the character to receive your reward.

From the moment he received the quest, he anticipated that he’d get more entangled with this woman than before.

Even without knowing the details, someone who had never felt any sensation before would find pain impossible to ignore once it was introduced.

‘I don’t know what kind of reward it is…’

According to the quest details, the way the ‘Weaver of Fate’ operates was said to change.

It probably meant that Aiden’s actions would alter the nature of his relationship with Katia.

Which direction this change would take was unknown.

…Hopefully, it wouldn’t be too bad.

That was his sincere wish.

Of course, once he achieved the goal of making her feel sensation, it wouldn’t likely turn into something harmful to him—but then again, who knows?

It’s hard to find someone as unpredictable as Katia.

There’s always the possibility that she harbors some kind of grudge against him…

***

“Ah.”

As Aiden was lost in these thoughts, Katia, who noticed his approach to the cell door, suddenly stood up.

“You’re here!”

Her voice was full of boundless enthusiasm, causing Aiden’s expression to become odd.

It wasn’t just her voice; the smile on Katia’s face seemed to use every muscle, shining flawlessly.

It was like the look of a pet reunited with its owner after a long time apart.

…

What is this?

It felt bizarre, like watching a massive dinosaur trying to act cute.

“You know, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things!”

Even as Aiden stood there frozen, Katia continued talking cheerfully, unaffected by his reaction.

“I’m not going back to the Holy Kingdom!”

Aiden turned to Noel, wearing a dumbfounded expression.

It was a gesture meant to demand an explanation, but seeing Noel equally agape suggested that this was news to her too.

No.

Setting aside how she planned to achieve it, what she intended to do, and whether it was even possible, there was one question that needed to be asked first.

The moment he managed to squeeze out this question, the answer came back immediately, as if Katia had been waiting for it.

“Of course.”

Quite literally.

With a face that seemed to say, “Why ask such an obvious question?” Katia, still wearing her bright smile, continued.

“Why would I go back when you’re here?”

With that eerie statement, a window suddenly appeared before Aiden’s eyes.

Round 150

“Here is today’s menu.”

As the food cover was lifted, a bright plume of steam rose, spreading the concentrated aroma and flavor in all directions.

The revealed dish was none other than carrot soup.

A common dish in Austria, it was prepared in the Hungarian style.

The finely ground carrots combined with ginger created a subtle ginger scent and a smooth soup texture that was exquisite.

“This is a dish made with the magical carrots of the awakener, Lee Kyu-seong. It was delivered from Ara Hongryeon today.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Johann Rothschild, the guild master of the Terror Guild, swallowed his anticipation as the awaited dish finally appeared.

The first delivery from Ara Hongryeon had arrived.

Most of it had to be used as buff items for dungeon raids, making it rare to enjoy it as ‘food.’

“There were crops that couldn’t become items, and I heard they’re also in short supply over there.”

Since most people had similar thoughts, all non-buff crops were distributed to Ara Hongryeon’s restaurant.

However, the quantity was so limited that they only appeared on the menu two or three times a month.

The majority of crops were allocated for dungeon raids, leading to the odd situation where guild members raided dungeons just to eat the crops.

“This is the famous food of awakener Lee Kyu-seong. I’ve only heard about it through rumors and stories until now, so it’s my first time actually eating it.”

Today, alongside Johann, was Choi Sung-hyuk, the top awakener of the Terror Guild known as the Exterminator.

He was a rare dedicated awakener who tirelessly worked on the front lines of dungeon raids, leaving him with little free time.

Despite hearing praises about Lee Kyu-seong from his brother, Director Choi, he had never tasted the food himself.

“Work is important, but you should take it easy sometimes.”

“I try to take it easy, but there are dungeons that can’t be conquered without me…”

“Dungeons don’t run away, and it’s not like a break will cause a catastrophe. I worry that you’re working too obsessively.”

At Johann’s words, Choi Sung-hyuk merely smiled awkwardly and nodded.

“Anyway, since today is a rare break, I’ve prepared a feast, so please enjoy it to the fullest. Although it’s not food from Kyu-seong, there will be other dishes, and there should be plenty of soup.”

“Thank you, Guild Master.”

Johan felt sorry for not being able to look after Choi Sung-hyuk, who was always busy.

Despite giving him the best treatment in the industry, it was hard to see him.

Hence, he made a point to create this occasion and invite him.

In fact, all of Kyu-seong’s crops received from Ara Hongryeon should have been used for the dungeon raid team’s buff items, but he set aside some just for this event.

“Now, let’s eat.”

“I’m looking forward to it. Thank you for the meal, Guild Master.”

Then the two slowly picked up their spoons.

The carrot soup, filled to the brim, shimmered brilliantly, spreading a rich aroma all around.

“Mmm.”

The aroma alone made their mouths water.

Trying to resist, their hands brought the spoons quickly to their mouths.

Slurp

The broth was sucked in.

Their senses were focused on one spot.

“!!”

The warm sensation melted everything away, the smooth yet thick broth enveloping them.

Next was the aroma.

The strong scent of carrot soup that had been wafting since the spoon approached now filled their mouths and noses, only to suddenly play coy.

‘Haaa.’

Replacing it was a comforting warmth created by a blend of various vegetables.

Not just carrots, but all sorts of vegetables were included, making it inevitable.

No, on second thought, it wasn’t obvious at all.

“How can it taste like this…?”

“Huh!”

Should this be called a taste or an aroma? The balance between flavor and scent was exquisite.

Considering the strong carrot aroma initially felt, it was surprising. It seemed natural that the other ingredients’ flavors would be overshadowed.

At that moment, the chef who brought the dish had not yet left and softly spoke up.

“Um, Guild Master.”

“Yes?”

“We happened to receive some potatoes that couldn’t be used as items, so I added a bit of them as a service without reporting it. Was that okay?”

“Ah!”

No wonder!

Johann realized why this carrot soup had such a fantastic taste and aroma.

Potatoes! The potatoes were providing the balance.

“This… is the best food I’ve ever had.”

Choi Sung-hyuk, who had been savoring the taste in a daze, finally managed to speak. And it seemed like he was about to give high praise.

However, Johann couldn’t refute his words. Despite having tasted various soups in Austria, none could compare to this carrot soup.

Undoubtedly, this soup was a food that healed the soul.

“I feel the same. Or maybe, there could be even tastier dishes made with Kyu-seong’s ingredients.”

“Ahhh….”

Food tastier than this.

While continuing to eat the soup, Choi Sung-hyuk anticipated it.

What would Korean dishes made with Kyu-seong’s ingredients taste like?

Not being picky about food, any Korean would naturally look forward to it.

And Johann was no different. Having settled here because Korean food suited his taste,

“But!”

“But?”

“I don’t think there will ever be a carrot soup tastier than this.”

“I agree.”

Johann, the guild master of the Terror Guild, and Choi Sung-hyuk, the Exterminator, smiled brightly at each other.

***

There would never be a carrot soup tastier than this!

I was confident as I looked at the finished golden carrot soup.

‘Or not? Since this is just a one-star golden carrot, if the star count increases…. ‘

Anyway!

The carrot soup made with the combined efforts of Chef Orie and Jae-seong boasted a tremendous quantity. I heard it was about 800 servings.

800 servings from a single carrot.

Isn’t that stretching it a bit too much?

“The carrot was so strong that increasing the quantity wasn’t an issue.”

“What do you mean?”

“No matter how diluted, it still tastes almost the same. The aroma and flavor don’t diminish at all.”

“Oh, really?”

As Jae-seong said, the smell of the golden carrot was overwhelming. Slimes and monsters had already gathered,

“Actually, we could’ve increased it even more. But brother said this much was enough, so we just went with it.”

“You did well, Jae-seong.”

“And, actually, there are a few carrots left.”

Looking to one side of the kitchen, as Jae-seong mentioned, there were some carrots left. Relatively speaking, it was a small amount, but in terms of quantity, it was almost three or four carrots.

“I’ll make a special dish for you with these, Brother. After all, you’re the owner of the carrots, so you deserve at least one special plate. Feed Ara too.”

“That’s my brother. You’ve got a good sense!”

Jae-seong, smiling warmly at my words, stored the remaining carrots properly and picked up the ladle.

“Can we try it first, Brother?”

“Sure. Let’s eat. Ara must be waiting eagerly.”

“Ah! Is my neck falling off?”

Ara, drooling, hurriedly covered her neck.

Everyone burst into laughter at her antics and picked up their plates.

“But with this much quantity, can we store it?”

“Yeah, that’s fine.”

Most of it will be eaten here anyway.

There were over 500 goblins.

Sharing some with the Alfheim and the slimes and creatures here, it wasn’t a large quantity at all.

The golden broth ladled out was fantastic.

Who would think this was a soup made from carrots just by looking at it?

Everyone waited while filling their bowls with soup.

Seeing everyone waiting for their serving was so adorable.

Slime?

Slime!

The slimes, helped by Ara and me, waited with their plates in front of them, tilting their heads as if asking when they could start eating.

One plate for Woofy, one for Purr…

Even with only a few fairies, the quantity seemed large. They would probably eat to their hearts’ content and still have leftovers.

The slimes, though served, waited blankly, not knowing what to do.

Finally, when all the servings were done, I picked up my spoon first.

“Let’s eat!”

“Let’s eat it!”

When Ara and I exclaimed, Junichi and Orie hesitated.

“Can we really eat with you?”

“Of course.”

“Chef Jae-seong is a blessing to me. To think I get to enjoy such luxury.”

It was indeed precious food. But no food is more important than people.

And delicious food is meant to be shared.

‘Before that… I should check the item description. Does the golden carrot still retain its effect as a dish?’

[★Golden Carrot Soup]

[A top-notch dish made with perfect ingredients by an excellent chef]

[It’s very delicious]

[When consumed, slightly increases earth affinity permanently]

[When consumed, increases magic power by one level permanently for 1st tier and below (one-time effect)]

“Ooh!”

The effect remains!

Not exactly the same; the sight-related ability enhancement was gone.

The magic power increase dropped from 3rd tier and below to 1st tier and below, but there were 800 servings.

‘Awesome.’

I wondered if I was the only one seeing the item effect, so I looked at Junichi and Jae-seong, who were just staring at me, eager to eat.

“Shall we really eat?”

“Let’s eat it now!”

Ara couldn’t hold back and buried her face in the plate first.

Still holding the spoon, it looked like her body had won a fight against her mind.

Not wanting to lose, I scooped up the soup with my spoon.

And then, a carrot paradise, with countless carrots holding my hand and hopping around.

The golden sun was brightly shining on this scene. The sun itself looked like a carrot.

‘…Carrot paradise?’

For a moment, I saw a hallucination.

In disbelief at such taste, a thud came from the side.

“Ju-Junichi?”

Junichi, holding an empty plate that gleamed, had collapsed.

“This is the food of the devil. No, it’s the food of heaven! Or is it? What food is this?”

Orie, with unfocused eyes, muttered incomprehensible Japanese rapidly, while Ara, who had her face in the plate, shouted.

“Can I have another bowl?!”

“Sure, have another.”

Everyone had emptied their bowls already.

Just as I was about to scoop another spoonful for myself,

Clank.

Huh? Why does it sound like scraping the bottom?

Looking down, I saw an empty plate and tilted my head in confusion.

“Who ate all my soup?”

The Desert Nation, Colony.

The Colosseum, which serves as both the heart and landmark of the nation, shares the same name as the capital.

The Colosseum is always filled with the public’s cheers and madness, as it is constantly stained with the blood shed by gladiators.

Even when a gladiator gets stabbed or loses their life, everything that happens in this Colosseum is merely entertainment for the masses.

But now, the Colosseum was silent.

It wasn’t that the public wasn’t present.

The Colosseum was packed with so many people that even the stairways, where people were supposed to move, were crammed with bodies.

Could it be that the match hadn’t started yet? No, that wasn’t the case.

Already, hundreds of gladiators of various ranks were standing in the spotlight.

There was only one odd thing.

While hundreds of gladiators gathered on the right side of the arena, on the left side, only one man stood.

A fight that appeared imbalanced to anyone watching.

Yet, the man standing alone on the Colosseum grounds had no complaints. Instead, a thin smile played on his lips.

The iron gauntlets on the man’s hands gleamed.

As soon as the referee’s voice, amplified through magic, echoed, the hundreds of gladiators began rushing toward the man.

Some with swords, some with fists, and others with axes.

Gladiators of all sorts, ranging from A-rank to B-rank, all charged in, aiming for one man’s neck.

However, despite the ferocious glints in their eyes, the man’s face still carried a deep smile, while the gladiators rushing at him bore intense tension in their eyes.

Because everyone here knew who the man standing before them was.

One of the Babayagas of this Colony.

The man who had held the position of Babayaga for the longest time.

Kalman Arents.

As Kalman grinned, he shifted into position.

His left foot slid behind his right, and his right hand followed suit, pulling back.

Every muscle in his body tensed instantly.

And just before the gladiators reached him, Kalman threw a punch.

A punch aimed at the empty air.

A punch aimed at no one, yet capable of striking anyone.

Boom!

As the shockwave erupted, the hundreds of gladiators rushing toward him were blown away in all directions in an instant, and with Kalman’s body vanishing,

Crash!

A ruthless massacre began.

Each time Kalman’s obsidian gauntlet extended, the bodies of the gladiators trying to recover were shattered.

For five minutes, the Colosseum was filled with silence, leaving only the fallen gladiators and Kalman.

After a brief moment of silence,

“Wooaaaaah!”

The Colosseum exploded with a frenzy of cheers, as if the previous quiet had been a lie.

The crowd, crazed and wild, paid no attention to the gladiators whose heads had been crushed or whose hearts had been destroyed by Kalman.

They only screamed and cheered madly for Kalman.

As Kalman slowly scanned the crowd, still with a deep smile, he turned and walked back into the Colosseum.

The luxurious waiting room reserved for the Babayagas.

Listening to the never-ending cheers of the crowd, Kalman remarked,

“There are still so many foolish people. Thinking they could defeat a Babayaga with mere numbers, hundreds of them.”

Turning at the sound of a voice from behind, Kalman found another man grinning.

The man was Malian, also known as a Babayaga, his bald head twisted grotesquely on one side.

As Kalman sat on a luxurious chair, Malian continued,

“Do you know who wiped out the Blood Sand Bandits?”

“No. Did you find out?”

Malian immediately responded to Kalman’s question.

“It was Seolrang.”

“…Is that so?”

After a brief silence, Kalman finally spoke.

But there was no particular anger in his voice.

Only a faint acceptance, as if saying, “So, that’s how it was.”

“Doesn’t seem like you’re very upset?” Malian asked, slightly puzzled.

Kalman leisurely leaned back in his chair.

“Not really? In the first place, I kept him around just because he brought in some pocket money. Besides, we’re going to kill him anyway, right?”

Kalman responded with a sly smile.

“True, that’s the plan.”

“So, what’s the plan?”

As Kalman asked, Malian flashed a quick grin and extended his left hand before Kalman. In his hand was a black cube.

“Oh-ho, is this the Abyssal Core? The one that can elevate the worthy?”

Malian nodded as Kalman twisted his mouth into a smile.

“Yes, with this, I can crush that arrogant beastkin’s head.”

“That’s music to my ears.”

Kalman lifted the cube from Malian’s hand. Gazing at the abyssal object, which seemed to absorb all light, he muttered with satisfaction.

“Finally, I can kill the bastard that’s been tearing through Colony as if it were her own playground.”

“I agree. Just a few days ago, I suffered because of her as well. And—”

Malian sighed deeply, revealing a bit of his frustration as he nodded in agreement. Seeing this, Kalman spoke again.

“So, when will the plan be executed?”

“In two days at the ruins.”

“That’s quick.”

“Isn’t quick better? Once that girl’s dead, you can start eating away at the royal authority again—”

“And you can take over the entire underworld, right?”

“Exactly.”

Malian smiled as they reaffirmed their shared goals.

“There’s no way we’ll fail.”

“Because of the Abyssal Core?”

“That too, but we also have some friends on the other side.”

With those words, Malian continued.

“Oh, and if you see that noble next to Seolrang, it would be great if you could take care of him as well.”

“Why?”

“Just a small request. I hear he’s Seolrang’s Master. Wouldn’t it be fun to kill him first, right in front of Seolrang?”

“Hmm, that does sound like it could be fun.”

With Kalman’s smiling response, Malian disappeared, leaving behind a promise to meet again in two days.

“Finally…”

Kalman sat in his throne, more greed-driven than any other, a deep smile on his lips.

***

About two days later, Alon, fully rested after staying at the guild, boarded a carriage with Seolrang, heading to the ruins. After some time had passed, they were almost at their destination.

Looking out at Seolrang, who was chatting casually with the golden-maned beastkin guarding the carriage, Alon thought to himself.

‘She’s nothing like the rumors suggest.’

It had been only about four days since Alon arrived at the Colony, but he had already grasped Seolrang’s reputation within it.

‘A mad dog…’

Alon made a peculiar expression.

The rumors often portrayed Seolrang as a mad dog, and naturally, he grew curious. After all, since their initial meeting, Seolrang had never shown any such behavior in front of him. For the past three days, all he saw was Seolrang smiling brightly and wagging her tail.

“Master?”

“Hmm?”

Alon snapped out of his thoughts as Seolrang, who had stopped talking to the beastkin, was now staring at him.

“You seemed deep in thought, Master. What’s on your mind?”

“Nothing much.”

As Seolrang tilted her head to the side, almost enough to twist her neck, Alon hesitated for a moment before answering.

“I just thought you’re good at looking after the guild members.”

“Of course! They’re all my family!”

“Family?”

“Yeah! They’re all my kin! I have to take care of them! I don’t care about anyone else.”

“Is that so…?”

“Oh, but not you, Master!”

Seolrang said, her expression suddenly becoming serious as she stared intently at him.

As if she was considering something important, her brow furrowed as she murmured,

“Master… hmm… family… after family?… No, after Yutia…?”

“Is that so?”

“Yeah, no matter how important you or Yutia are, you’re not blood-related.”

As if she had made a difficult decision, Seolrang concluded with a slightly apologetic expression.

But Alon simply shrugged and thought to himself.

‘Higher than I expected.’

Despite his expressionless face, Alon was pleased. Considering that he had barely spoken to Seolrang, let alone exchanged letters, the fact that he was being treated as the third most important person in her life was quite satisfying.

‘Hmm… does that mean if something dangerous happens later, I could probably ask for help once?’

As Alon finished his thoughts with a bit of relief, the coachman suddenly called out,

“We’ve arrived!”

The carriage had reached the city of Kahara, the ancient city of gods.

***

At the entrance to the ruins, now called by that name, the city was once known as “Kahara, the City of the Old Gods,” at least according to his knowledge as a player.

Alon stepped out of the carriage and began walking deeper into the dark cave, organizing his thoughts.

‘Where should I start looking?’

In Psychedelia, Alon had visited this place multiple times. However, those visits were only for side quests to deal with the bandits hiding here, not to uncover any hidden secrets.

‘I do remember there being a place with lots of writings.’

Using his in-game knowledge, he decided to focus on certain areas that stood out in his memory after entering Kahara. He was pinpointing a few spots to explore in more detail.

After walking for some time, when Seolrang’s expression started showing signs of boredom, Alon noticed a group walking ahead, much further in front than his party.

Before long, he recognized who they were.

“Ah, Count Palatio?”

“Liyan…?”

The woman approaching from the darkness, illuminating the way with light magic, was none other than Liyan Aguileras, daughter of the Red Tower’s master, along with a group of Red Tower wizards whom Alon had encountered during his recent visit to the desert city of Colony.

Alon, noticing that the confused looks of the twenty or so wizards had shifted to slightly surprised expressions, felt a bit taken aback himself.

“Are you here to explore the ruins too, Count?” Liyan asked.

“Indeed,” Alon nodded in response to her question, and naturally, he began walking alongside the Red Tower wizards as they continued exploring the ruins.

After walking for some more time, Alon heard Evan, who was also starting to look bored like Seolrang, say, “There’s the exit.”

Alon followed Evan’s gaze toward the exit and, finally stepping outside, was greeted by an incredible sight.

“Wow—”

The wizards, beastkin, and even Seolrang couldn’t help but exclaim in awe. The sight before them, after stepping outside, was that of a massive fortress within an underground cavern.

However, Alon wasn’t particularly surprised by the scene. He had already seen this enormous fortress several times before.

But even so, his usually expressionless eyes widened slightly more than usual because, in his ear, he heard something that no one else could:

[You’ve finally come, magician.]

A voice that only he could hear.

Round 149

Prev | TOC | Next

The field was vast and filled with many plants.

So far, Kyu-seong had planted cherry tomatoes, carrots, Layla (a type of plant), potatoes, sweet potatoes, embergrill (another plant), eggplants, cucumbers, strawberries, bell peppers, Goso-Goso (yet another plant), lettuce, onions, garlic, and beans.

“Amazing, truly amazing.”

Junichi, curious about how Kyu-seong managed to grow so many crops at once, saw slimes bustling around everywhere and got his answer.

Who would have thought of farming with slimes!

It was an unheard-of method that no one had ever thought of or tried before.

Even if they had, how would they have gotten the slimes to farm?

“It must be his taming skill.”

According to his research, Kyu-seong’s ability was liquid synthesis.

Yet, somehow, he was managing all kinds of monsters here, including Ara.

It was clear that he had undergone a second awakening.

“This is a tomato!”

“Wow, all these crops look so different from those on Earth. It’s refreshing.”

Orie exclaimed in amazement.

As a chef who had visited many fields to study, she found it interesting to see familiar crops in new forms and growth rates.

Junichi, who had also purchased land and hired experts to cultivate premium ingredients, found this scene very instructive.

“Oh? Is that…?”

“Ah, I tried growing rice, but winter came and I failed. I’ll have to try again.”

They chatted as they inspected the various crops and finally arrived at the bell pepper field.

The slimes there were in the middle of harvesting the bell peppers.

The sight of slimes sluggishly harvesting bell peppers was quite shocking.

“Are slimes usually like this?”

Junichi couldn’t answer Orie’s question.

Despite his long experience in the awakening industry, this was the first time he had seen slimes farming.

Ignoring their reactions, Kyu-seong harvested a bell pepper.

The freshly picked bell pepper emitted a fragrant, appetite-whetting aroma.

“This is how you pick them. It’s easy, right?”

“Ohh.”

“Now, let’s all harvest the bell peppers together.”

The full-scale work began.

Following Kyu-seong’s instructions, they picked the bell peppers and put them in the baskets the slimes had prepared in advance.

“The harvest rate is very high. The field didn’t seem that big, but there’s quite a lot.”

“Yes, it’s easy to manage too.”

Each stem had about 20 bell peppers hanging from it.

With a slight twist of the wrist, the bell peppers detached easily with a soft snap.

They felt quite heavy, likely due to their high water content.

“Isn’t this fun?”

Despite being simple labor, the slimes helping out, the wandering Kkumuri, and the chattering fairies made it anything but boring.

With Kyu-seong’s permission, they even ate freshly picked bell peppers in between harvesting, making it feel like paradise.

“Hehehe. There are so many delicious bell peppers.”

While the others were harvesting, Ara busily replaced filled baskets with new ones, making everyone smile at her diligent work.

“The baskets must be heavy, but she’s handling them well.”

“Our Ara is quite strong. My brother probably gets a lot of help from her too.”

Orie and Jae-seong took a brief rest and chatted while the slimes filled their spots.

Both Orie, seeing this for the first time, and Jae-seong, who had seen it a few times before, found the sight of slimes working quite fascinating.

The seemingly endless bell pepper harvest gradually came to an end.

As Junichi tasted the last harvested bell pepper, he looked around with a satisfied smile.

“Ha! Are there no more crops to harvest? This is so enjoyable!”

“Today, it’s only bell peppers. From the looks of it, we might be able to harvest sweet potatoes tomorrow.”

“What a shame. If only they could grow a day faster!”

Junichi, who had to return tonight due to his busy schedule, regretted not being able to harvest other crops.

“Shall we eat now that the work is done?”

“Sounds good!”

After the farm work, everyone felt their hunger keenly.

The thought of eating a meal made with Kyu-seong’s ingredients made their mouths water.

Even Ara perked up at the mention of food and quickly ran off somewhere, returning with Bokkeum.

With a flourish, she presented him.

“Behold! A golden carrot!”

“Huh?”

Everyone tilted their heads in confusion as Ara suddenly brought out a slime.

But when Bokkeum spat out a gigantic golden carrot, their eyes widened in surprise.

“Is this…?!”

“Wow!”

“Is this the special ingredient you mentioned?”

They were used to Kyu-seong’s mini carrots, but this enormous golden carrot filled them with anticipation.

“Is this a new variety?”

“It is a new variety, but it’s a lucky mutation we harvested.”

“Wow. Could this be an item too?”

“Yes, it is.”

“May I check it…?”

Junichi asked cautiously, and Kyu-seong, having anticipated this situation from the moment he knew they were coming, smiled.

“You might be surprised.”

“I’d rather not check it.”

Junichi didn’t want to upset Kyu-seong. Gourmet food, especially ingredients from Kyu-seong, had become a significant part of his life.

If Kyu-seong said it was surprising, it was definitely not an ordinary item. He didn’t want to risk any misunderstandings by checking the item.

Skipping the item check, Kyu-seong shared his concern with Jae-seong, which he had since harvesting the golden carrot.

“Jae-seong, is there a dish that can be shared among many people using this carrot? I want to share it, but we only have one carrot…”

“Hmm, to increase the quantity, a soup would be best. With this size, it could serve hundreds of portions.”

“Hundreds of portions?! Great, great! Soup is perfect!”

Seeing Kyu-seong’s satisfaction, Jae-seong rolled up his sleeves, determined not to disappoint his brother.

Orie, too, was more motivated than usual, wondering if this could help her secure more ingredients.

The group moved to the cooking building immediately.

The main ingredients were the golden carrot, onions, and potatoes.

Conveniently, Kyu-seong had all of these, and Junichi took out the remaining ingredients, such as seasonings, from his space expansion item.

“A soup…?”

Kyu-seong suddenly remembered the delicious hot spring water and asked Jae-seong.

“There’s this unique hot spring water here that’s drinkable.”

“Unique hot spring water?”

“Yeah. Try it.”

While other soups might have been skipped, he felt that the honey-flavored hot spring water would complement the carrot soup perfectly.

Ara, who was listening intently to Kyu-seong, ran off to fetch the hot spring water.

“Here it is, the honey-flavored hot spring water!”

“Oh, the one at the entrance of the field…”

Remembering the hot spring water they had passed by while inspecting the field, everyone took a sip.

It felt like drinking sweet, warm tea.

“What should we call this…”

“It feels calming.”

Jae-seong also took a sip and nodded.

“It’s delicious, brother.”

“Is it?”

“But I don’t think it would suit the carrot soup.”

“Really?”

Kyu-seong nodded as if he had expected this, but his disappointed expression was noticeable to anyone.

Despite this, Jae-seong stood firm, saying no when necessary.

“I’ll take this and research it separately. Today, let’s just make carrot soup.”

“Alright.”

Setting aside his disappointment, they began preparing the meal in earnest.

First, they inspected the main ingredient of this dish, the carrot.

Although they had become quite accustomed to handling Kyu-seong’s magical carrots, this one was different.

‘Hmm…’

Jae-seong immediately activated his ability, “Absolute Sense.”

Although it only lasted for one second, this ability could enhance one of his five senses to the extreme.

With his limited mana as a first-class awakener, he could only use it about ten times a day.

“Huff!”

He maximized his sense of smell with Absolute Sense.

Normally, he would enhance his sense of taste to sample the ingredient, but this time, the ingredient was too unique for a simple taste test.

‘This is…!’

Grabbing the carrot, Jae-seong quickly inhaled its scent, his eyes widening in surprise.

“How is it?”

“What do you think, Chef Kyu-seong?”

Even as Junichi and Orie asked, Jae-seong, who was deep in thought, finally spoke.

“This sensation is new to me. Or rather, it’s familiar yet strange.”

“What do you mean?”

“Chef Orie, this ingredient is like meat.”

“Meat?”

Jae-seong’s words seemed odd.

However, Orie’s expression gradually grew more serious.

“Could you please explain in more detail?”

Kyu-seong stood there, puzzled, while Junichi calmly asked for clarification.

“In ingredients, meat has different characteristics and flavors depending on the cut. This carrot is similar.”

“So, you mean…?”

“The top part connected to the stem, the middle body, and the lower part with the roots all have different tastes, aromas, and characteristics.”

“Oh my.”

“While it’s certain that each part will be delicious no matter how it’s cooked, the optimal cooking method will vary by section. This is truly amazing.”

Just by smelling the carrot once, Jae-seong had gathered a wealth of information.

It was an ability perfectly suited to cooking.

Kyu-seong, impressed by Jae-seong’s ability, was also astonished by the previously unknown characteristics of his harvest.

“So, just like beef is divided into different cuts like brisket, ribs, and sirloin, this carrot is divided by section too?”

“You understood the English terms?”

“Ara translated them for me.”

Jae-seong nodded, looking at the diligent Ara.

“That’s right. You understood it correctly.”

“So what do we do? Should we postpone the soup?”

“That’s for you to decide, brother. But if we go with a different type of dish, we won’t be able to make a large quantity. And this carrot isn’t like well-researched meat. I don’t know the optimal cooking method for each part yet.”

Satisfied with the explanation, Kyu-seong made a decision.

“Then let’s stick to making the soup. I want to feed as many people as possible.”

“Good. I recommend that too. Even if it’s not the optimal cooking method, it’s a dish that won’t fail.”

With the decision made, Jae-seong took out his kitchen knife. As soon as he finished speaking, he began preparing the ingredients.

First, he started with the onions and potatoes.

Jae-seong and Orie began moving as if they had been working together for years.

While Jae-seong prepared the ingredients, Orie preheated the large pot and got ready to sauté the ingredients.

“Amazing!”

Ara, wearing her tiger pajamas, watched the cooking process with clenched fists.

Kyu-seong also admired the serious cooking scene, just in case, recording it on his phone.

“Phew.”

With all the ingredients except the carrot prepared, Orie began sautéing them.

As the vegetables cooked in the butter-coated pan, a delicious aroma spread.

“Absolute Sense!”

Jae-seong activated Absolute Sense once more.

This time, he enhanced his sense of touch.

Just for one second, even splitting that second into smaller fragments.

During that fleeting moment, Jae-seong’s knife made precise cuts.

Swish—

The giant carrot was sliced perfectly, the process resembling the dissection of a large tuna.

Even after the ability ended, he maintained the sensation in his fingertips, making his knife dance.

The golden carrot quickly started to break down into small pieces.

Jae-seong’s basic skills had always been excellent, but after becoming an awakener, his practiced basics began to truly shine.

“Wow.”

Kyu-seong couldn’t help but exclaim as he recorded the video.

Jae-seong’s knife skills transcended technique and felt like art.

“Preparation is complete, Chef.”

“Good.”

Orie had also finished all preparations and was waiting for the carrots.

Despite cooking for hundreds, the process was fast and without any mistakes.

“That smell…”

Junichi started sniffing the air.

The main cooking hadn’t even started yet, but the aroma of the golden carrot already tantalized their senses.

The Blood Sand Bandits were a large organization that had been active in the southern desert of the continent for a very long time.

The number of members they commanded exceeded hundreds, and among them, most of the combatants were capable of imbuing their swords with magic—making them a force far too powerful to be considered mere bandits.

Given the massive power the Blood Sand Bandits possessed, it was only natural that they caught the attention of the nation of Colony, which was rooted in the desert.

After all, the area where the Blood Sand Bandits were operating was none other than Colony’s capital city.

Like the saying goes, “a nail that sticks out gets hammered down.” It would have been appropriate for the nation to take action and eliminate such a large bandit group.

After all, when bandits loiter around, the nation inevitably suffers damage in some way.

However, the reason the Blood Sand Bandits could continue to operate so boldly near the capital’s desert region was because they had powerful backing.

And not just any backing, but from the most long-standing Baba Yaga of Colony—none other than the warrior, Kalman Arents.

With Kalman supporting them, the group that should have been wiped out long ago grew from dozens to hundreds over a span of ten years.

Today, however, Draco, the leader of the Blood Sand Bandits and Kalman Arents’ trusted subordinate, was in a very bad mood.

“Jack is dead?”

“Yes.”

The reason was that one of his men had gone out to raid a caravan today and was killed.

“Ha—”

Draco scowled in irritation. His frustration wasn’t from the loss of a comrade, but because one of the laborers he had painstakingly raised had died meaninglessly.

‘I had planned to train him a bit more and use him as an assassin.’

Clicking his tongue, Draco asked, “Who killed him?”

“It seems he was killed by a noble while targeting a mage.”

“A noble? Jack?”

“Yes. From what I heard, when the noble used magic, the middle of the desert froze over…”

“What’s their name?”

“We’re currently gathering information from our contacts in Colony, and we should have details by tomorrow.”

After a moment of contemplation, Draco responded, “Let me know as soon as we get the information.”

Naturally, Draco had no intention of letting the mage who killed Jack off the hook.

‘I must avenge the waste of my resources.’

Of course, considering the noble’s status in a foreign country, killing him could lead to all kinds of complications, but Draco wasn’t too concerned.

Killing someone in the desert wasn’t particularly unusual, and as long as there were no witnesses, most deaths in the desert were treated as disappearances.

And Draco was one of the most experienced at such acts.

Once he figured out the noble’s identity, he planned to wait for the right moment to bury him when he tried to leave the desert.

—If only ‘that’ hadn’t appeared.

“Gahk—!”

Draco coughed up dark crimson blood as he looked in despair at his hideout.

Just ten minutes ago, the secret hideout of the Blood Sand Bandits, which had proudly stood for years, lay in ruins.

But that wasn’t all.

The soldiers he had spent more than ten years raising were all either buried in the sand or crushed against the hideout walls, meeting their end.

And then—

“Hmm, is that all?”

A pair of sharp golden eyes scanned the surroundings before vanishing in an instant.

With a flash of gold lightning, the figure of Seolrang reappeared, holding in both hands—

“This ends it.”

—the heads of the bandits.

The two heads retained expressions of tense anticipation, as if they were still unaware of what had happened, lying in ambush near the destroyed hideout for a surprise attack.

Thud—

Seolrang, disinterested, tossed the heads far away, leaving Draco with a look of disbelief, unable to comprehend the situation.

From start to finish—

Everything.

—

‘What in the world… is this…?’

Draco found himself staring at the grim reaper, who was now slowly approaching him.

Step step…

In a single moment, the golden flash of light that had appeared had destroyed his kingdom—the hideout he had built—and wiped out the Blood Sand Bandits, the hundreds of men he had cultivated over more than ten years.

Step, step…

The girl with golden eyes. The reaper.

As soon as those sharp, golden eyes fixed on Draco, he felt a shiver of primal fear run through his entire body. An instinctive fear.

Even amidst this terror, Draco desperately tried to speak—to say something to save his life.

“Se, Seolrang! Do you even know what you’ve done?!”

Draco’s voice was filled with desperation. His kingdom of ten years, everything he had built, had crumbled like a sandcastle, but he had not given up. If he could survive, he believed he could rebuild his small kingdom again.

But—

Unfortunately, Seolrang showed no signs of reacting to Draco’s frantic words. All she did was raise her blood-soaked right hand and grab the head of Draco, whose stomach had been pierced through.

“If you kill me now, you’ll be making an enemy of Kalman Arents! I’m under his protection!”

Sensing his impending death, Draco tried to invoke Kalman’s name, hoping to escape, but the strength in Seolrang’s hand only tightened.

“Is it money you want?! Take it! Take all of it! Or do you want a tribute? I’ll pay whatever tribute you want!!”

His screams grew more frenzied, and at last, he began to wail in despair as he fully realized his approaching death.

“Why?! Why are you doing this to me?! Why?! Why!!!”

His voice, full of resentment and frustration, rang out.

In response—

“Because you laid a hand on my master. And—”

A muttered whisper reached Draco’s ears. It wasn’t loud, but neither was it small. Just a quiet murmur.

And then—

“Because I don’t want to get scolded.”

With that soft whisper, recalling her red eyes, Seolrang crushed Draco’s head with a loud *crack*.

With her mission complete, Seolrang disappeared, leaving nothing behind.

In mere ten minutes, the Blood Sand Bandits, who had terrorized the desert under Kalman’s name for over a decade, vanished from history.

***

The next day.

Alon, feeling the fatigue from his long travels melt away, received two pieces of news.

The first was that entering the Forgotten City would not be possible for another three days.

The second was—

“Count, I heard that the Blood Sand Bandits who attacked us have been completely wiped out!”

“…The Blood Sand Bandits?”

It was the group that had attacked him not long ago, now apparently annihilated.

“Yes, they were completely wiped out.”

“…When?”

“From what I’ve heard, it happened yesterday.”

“An entire bandit group wiped out, and rumors already spread in a day?”

As Alon furrowed his brow in confusion, Evan nodded.

“The entire city is buzzing with the news. Apparently, the caravan that arrived earlier today shared the information.”

At Evan’s words, Alon felt as if a thousand question marks were hovering over his head.

The Blood Sand Bandits weren’t supposed to disappear for another three years, not unless they were dealt with by the protagonist, Elivan, as the original story dictated.

‘Why on earth did they suddenly vanish?’

With a puzzled expression, Alon tried to figure it out, but—

“I took care of it!”

The answer came far more simply than expected.

“You did?”

“Yep! Didn’t I do a great job!?”

At Seolrang’s innocent grin, both Alon and Evan slowly opened their mouths in astonishment.

“You dealt with the Blood Sand Bandits…?”

“Yup!”

“…Why?”

Alon asked instinctively.

“Well, didn’t Master say so?”

Evan glanced at Alon as if to ask, ‘Did You?’, while Alon stared blankly at Evan. But that only lasted for a moment.

“You said you didn’t want to see them again.”

“I did say that… but—”

“If they’re gone, you won’t have to see them anymore, right?”

With a wide, innocent smile, Seolrang nodded as if she’d just solved a grand dilemma, leaving Alon with the same feeling he’d had when he first met Deus—a feeling that something about this was just… too much.

But that moment of bewilderment soon passed, and Alon suddenly thought of something and asked.

“Wait, so you wiped out the entire Blood Sand Bandit group all by yourself?”

“That’s right!”

Seolrang nodded nonchalantly, and Alon found himself falling silent without realizing it.

The Blood Sand Bandits he knew numbered in the hundreds, with most of the combatants capable of imbuing their weapons with magic—hardly the kind of group to be taken lightly.

Moreover, Draco, the leader of the bandits, was someone who, as far as Alon knew, would be able to wield an aura blade three years from now.

And yet, Seolrang had just single-handedly killed hundreds of knight-level combatants, including Draco, their leader…?

He knew that the title of Baba Yaga wasn’t something one could earn lightly, but… wasn’t this a bit stronger than he had expected?

Alon stared blankly at Seolrang, who was grinning carefreely, and suddenly recalled that in the future, she would become the embodiment of the sin of pride.

‘…’

With that thought, he found his posture becoming more reverent.

This was three days before their departure for the Forgotten City.

***

At the time when Alon left for the desert city of Colony, a secret meeting was taking place in a small tavern in the eastern part of Teria, the capital of the Kingdom of Asteria.

“So, why did you call for me, Duke?”

“I didn’t think your intuition had dulled to the point where you had to ask, Marquis,” said Duke Rimgrave, leader of the royalist faction.

At those words, Marquis Philboid, leader of the noble faction, sat down naturally and spoke.

“I assume this is about Count Palatio.”

“You’re sharp. I called you because of Count Palatio… or more precisely, the ‘Kalpha’ that those brats gathered together,” Rimgrave replied.

The marquis nodded, as if no further explanation was needed.

Having spent decades navigating the treacherous world of politics, they both easily understood that the duke was seeking an alliance to bring down ‘Kalpha’.

The Kalpha group was an obnoxious organization that posed a threat to both the royalist and noble factions, and it needed to be dismantled as soon as possible.

In their world, yesterday’s enemies could become today’s allies depending on their interests, so it wasn’t difficult for them to join forces.

“So, what’s your plan?” Philboid cut straight to the point without delay.

Admiring the marquis’ quick judgment, having already calculated the costs and benefits in just a few words, the duke responded, “I plan to involve Rosario.”

“…Rosario?”

“Yes, to be specific, the ‘Cardinal’ of Rosario.”

The duke began to lay out his detailed plan for the marquis.

After some time had passed—

“And what’s the demand?” Philboid asked, as if there was no need to hear anything further.

“Half of the bribe to stuff the cardinal’s mouth.”

“Not bad.”

The two nobles exchanged thoughts, both smiling in satisfaction.

If their plan went well, the upstart Kalpha group, made up of rabble from the underworld, would crumble like a sandcastle.

“It won’t take long. In fact, I’ve already made contact.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

With that, both men left the tavern with smiles on their faces, heading in different directions.

Only two whiskey glasses, still filled with drink, were left behind in the rundown tavern.

“…”

While everyone around remained silent at the sight of the person who had suddenly fallen from the sky, Katia brushed her hair aside and looked at Noel.

“Is this the person you were supposed to introduce me to?”

Katia’s eyes sparkled with interest as she said this.

The reason this person became notorious as “Deathwish” in the first place was simple: she shows interest in anyone who can kill her.

And as Katia made that remark, Aiden was slowly edging closer to Noel.

He had a nearly certain premonition about the “situation” that was about to unfold.

It’s almost a fundamental rule in the game that main characters should avoid clashing with each other whenever possible.

It’s something that must be adhered to.

Each one of them is so distinctive that there are often clashes when they’re together.

However, if you were to point out the two people who are the worst combination, it would undoubtedly be these two.

Lionheart and Deathwish.

The reason is simple: their “personalities” are completely incompatible.

It’s like the meeting of a model student and a madman—they can never understand each other’s motives, no matter what.

“Lionheart seems like someone worth having expectations for, though.”

At those words, Noel tilted her head and responded.

“Expectations? What are you talking about?”

“Do you want to try killing me?”

Noel glanced expressionlessly at Katia and then looked at Aiden’s desperate face, her eyebrows slightly raised.

Fortunately, it seemed she had fully grasped the nature of the “dangerous element” that Aiden had summoned her to handle.

After all, there’s only one person who could spout such insane nonsense so nonchalantly within the information she knew.

“Katia Heinkel Craven, is that correct?”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“I don’t recall hearing that you were visiting the Empire.”

“Hmm.”

“I’ll hear the details from the Capital Headquarters. You should also follow proper entry procedures there—”

“Let’s cut the pleasantries right here.”

With a cracking sound, Katia loosened her knuckles.

Even taking off the coat she always wore and carelessly throwing it to the ground showed that she was preparing herself thoroughly.

“You’re not going to fight?”

Noel’s mouth clamped shut like a clam.

It was clear she was feeling dizzy from the opponent’s straightforward demeanor.

“I need to give it my all before I die. Without a fight, the whole premise doesn’t even make sense.”

However, the moment she heard Katia’s nonchalant words, her eyes sank heavily.

“There are civilians nearby. Stop making unreasonable demands.”

Putting aside the diplomatic and political problems that would arise from this fight…

It would be a clash between one of the most monstrous beings in the Holy Kingdom and the strongest knight alive.

The aftermath of the fight would be unavoidable, and everyone nearby would surely get caught in it.

But as soon as Katia heard that, she let out a mocking laugh.

“And?”

“Why care about people who don’t even matter?”

Noel’s face began to show a barely concealed fury.

It’s a confrontation between someone who only cares about achieving their own desires, and someone who has devoted their life to morality and justice.

There’s no way their conversation could flow well.

Katia’s next words, uttered with an air of annoyance, made that even clearer.

“Then how about this? If you don’t fight, I’ll just go around and kill everyone I see in this area.”

“…..”

“Then I’ll kill your husband in front of you next. That should give you a reason to fight.”

At that moment, a fierce burst of pure white energy erupted from Noel’s body.

For the first time since Aiden had known her, she was showing an unmistakable intent to kill, fully prepared for battle.

“Fine.”

Of course, the one person who smiled with satisfaction upon seeing that was the madwoman.

“That’s the spirit.”

And with those words, flames bright enough to illuminate the night sky flared up around Katia.

Soon, the clash of their supernatural powers resulted in a blinding explosion, bright like the morning sun.

He knew this would happen.

It was a thought that came to him as he floated freely, as though gravity didn’t exist, in the aftermath of the explosion that had swept away everything around them the moment the two collided.

Sure enough, just as he expected, the impact from their clash had caused everything nearby to be blown away.

Even as he tumbled across the stone ground, pain flooding his entire body, Aiden’s mind was racing.

Main Quest

Act 1, Capital Crack

– There is a group smuggling weapons into the capital. Arrest them all.

– Clear Condition: Do not allow any civilian casualties.

– If the quest fails, you die!

The problem that had fallen into his lap now was entirely his responsibility to solve.

It was originally the protagonist’s job.

“This is the worst.”

The situation he had desperately tried to avoid had now come crashing down right in front of him: being deeply involved in the main scenario.

Even now, he wanted to run away, to leave all of this behind and escape to somewhere far beyond reach.

But if he didn’t take action, then, most likely, everyone nearby would die.

Even Noel, who had come here because he called her, would be in danger.

And soon, he would die too.

To prevent that, he had to somehow subdue Katia Heinkel Craven right now.

The first thing to do was…

“Huff!”

Aiden sprang to his feet and looked at the people sprawled on the ground around him.

All of them wore bewildered expressions, stunned by the clash between two of the most powerful beings.

Amidst them, it didn’t take long to spot what he was looking for.

“…”

Aiden hurried over to a rough-looking man, who was holding a box tightly in his arms with a dazed expression.

“Give me that.”

The man, who was clutching the box as if it were a precious family heirloom, was holding a Hellfire Bomb, an incredibly powerful weapon that had even caught Katia’s interest.

“Wh-why should I listen to you—”

The man, trying to maintain a threatening air despite his fear, was abruptly cut off by Aiden’s grin.

“Do you not see that?”

Aiden pointed toward Katia, who was charging barehanded at Noel, who had drawn her sword.

Flames clashed with energy, sparks flying.

“Trust me, if you don’t help the knight over there right now, we’re all going to die.”

“What are you talking about—”

“The knight can’t go all out because she’s worried about us getting caught in the crossfire.”

Of course, in terms of combat power, Katia and Noel were evenly matched.

But the one who was shackled was clearly the latter.

Unlike Katia, who didn’t care at all about collateral damage, Noel had to fight while worrying about the civilians and Aiden’s safety.

And Katia was no fool—she was well aware of that.

So naturally, the next thing Katia would do…

“That madwoman over there can’t use her full strength because of the people around us. But she’s the type who wouldn’t hesitate to kill us all once she decides to stop holding back.”

“……”

“If you don’t believe me, just sit there and suck your thumb while we all die together.”

“……”

“Isn’t it strange how restrained the Lionheart is being?”

Before the man could even respond, a piercing cackle erupted from Katia behind them.

“Is it because of the distractions? Should I clear them out for you?”

Noel answered coolly with an impassive expression.

“Before we put you on trial, you should first learn some manners, Your Highness.”

The pure white energy wrapped around Noel’s sword collided with Katia’s fist, which was imbued with a primordial vow.

Another explosion lit up the night sky, and once again, the shockwave sent everyone flying to the ground with screams.

Even at a considerable distance from where the deadly blows were being exchanged, people were being tossed around like paper.

“Did you see that?”

Covered in dust and dirt, Aiden added those words to the man lying on the ground beside him.

The man, as if entranced, finally handed over the box.

Aiden grabbed it, quickly rising to his feet and mentally calculating his next steps.

This is all he needed.

Now, he just needed the right tools to use it.

Three things were necessary at this moment.

System Message

Copying ‘Qi Manipulation: Defense Field’.

Copying ‘Divine Enhancement: Vow’.

Copying ‘Magical Power Enhancement: Incantation’.

These were skills assigned to Noel, Katia, and Dunadan, respectively, which Aiden had copied.

And lastly, with a sickening feeling rising in his gut, Aiden clenched his teeth so hard that he was on the verge of drawing blood from his gums.

What he was about to do was a path of no return.

A one-way ticket to hell.

There was no turning back, not until the main scenario was over.

Even so, if he didn’t act, he would die.

And there were people who would mourn his death.

For a brief moment, the faces of his family flashed before his eyes.

‘Dad. Sisella.’

As expected, he couldn’t die here.

He would rather fall into hell once than see those two cry.

‘Looks like I’ll be coming home a little late.’

Aiden took a deep breath and confirmed the feel of the revolver in his jacket.

The coldness of it was chilling to the touch.

If one were a seasoned knight who had gone through the historic event of the Allied War, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say they had seen every conceivable hell.

And yet, Noel could only come to one conclusion in her assessment of the opponent.

It was absurd.

“Hah!”

Katia rushed toward her, her entire body wrapped in divine energy.

She was so fast that it felt like only the start and the result of her movements existed, with no in-between.

The sheer speed was astonishing, but what was even more overwhelming was the divine pressure surrounding her, to the point where Noel herself felt dizzy.

The dense flames radiating from her were so bright they confused her very eyesight, streaming outward like branches.

“律 (Ritual). I vow.”

She whispered a blessing quietly beneath her lips.

Even with her overwhelming energy output, simply fending off Katia was difficult. She needed to strengthen herself.

“For the safety of the innocent.”

Her qi, which had clearly become stronger than before, imbued her ceremonial longsword.

Soon, she swung a few times at the air.

Though Katia wasn’t even within range, it might have seemed like a useless gesture, but suddenly, Katia’s body, which had been charging from a distance, was sliced apart.

A slash that ‘transcended space.’

With precise manipulation of the qi infused in her sword, such a seemingly impossible act became easy.

It was a technique possible because of the unique nature of her qi, which excelled in output beyond other supernatural abilities.

But then.

“…!”

Noel gritted her teeth and twisted her body.

Katia, now a mass of flames, surged past the spot where she had just been.

If she had been even a moment slower, she would have been caught in the attack.

“Well done! I’ve never seen anything like that!”

Katia’s appearance as she said this was horrifyingly grotesque.

Broken ribs, muscles hanging from severed wounds.

This woman had just ‘died’ once again.

And yet, the smile on the princess’s face showed no signs of fading.

The reason Noel found her absurd was because of this very thing.

She made no effort to dodge any attack, pushing forward while taking every blow.

Despite suffering countless fatal wounds, she showed no signs of exhaustion. She didn’t even bleed.

“But you know…”

No, it went beyond that.

“I still… don’t feel a thing…”

A sob-like wail burst out.

Her scream was so mixed with maniacal laughter that it sounded like she was laughing and crying at the same time.

“I still don’t feel anything!”

As Katia charged once more, Noel sighed and raised her sword again.

‘At this rate…’

She wouldn’t be able to subdue her.

In fact, Noel might even be defeated.

Noel glanced around quickly.

She still had plenty of cards she hadn’t played yet.

But the safety of the people around her was a problem.

If she fought seriously, it wouldn’t be surprising if there were casualties.

It was around that moment when Noel noticed ‘something strange.’

‘…Aiden?’

She saw Aiden awkwardly lugging a box around.

When their eyes briefly met, Aiden hurriedly waved his hands in a gesture that seemed to say, “Bring her over here.”

There was clearly something up.

Noel subtly nodded and threw herself in that direction.

The opponent was someone who, as Aiden had said, simply repeated basic charges, as if her only goal was to ‘burn off’ her overwhelming power through combat.

Drawing her toward a specific location wasn’t too difficult.

Like a bullfighter, Noel sidestepped the charging Katia and led her toward Aiden’s designated spot.

At the same time, Aiden detonated the bomb he had prepared in advance with a deafening roar.

The Hellfire Bomb was a weapon originally used to demolish high-rise buildings. Normally, the entire area should have been blown away.

But in an instant, a small dome formed around the explosion’s epicenter.

It was similar to the dome Noel had created with her pure white qi previously.

The difference was that this time, it was used to contain both the explosion and Katia within it.

‘Impressive.’

Noel wiped the sweat from her brow, inwardly impressed.

She had never considered using a defensive barrier in such a way.

Not only was the technique itself impressive, but what was even more astonishing was the dome’s durability, withstanding such an explosion.

Even the purest qi would normally require a few conditions to contain an explosion of that magnitude in such a small area.

Doing it without any preparation in such a short time was no small feat.

It was likely because the ability used to form the dome was unfamiliar to her.

She had seen it once before: a blend of qi and divinity.

‘It has the output of qi and the firepower of divinity… a hybrid that takes the strengths of both abilities.’

Thanks to that, Aiden could manipulate qi like she did, but its performance was almost a superior version.

“Well, the attempt was good, but…”

But, it was clear this wasn’t a moment for deep contemplation.

Despite her body being torn apart by supersonic shrapnel, scorched by searing heat, and likely ‘dying’ dozens of times inside the explosion, Katia was still there, tearing at the barrier with a vicious gleam in her eyes.

“It’s far from over with just this—”

“I never expected it to be.”

Aiden’s calm voice cut her off mid-sentence.

“That was just to ‘strip it away.’ At the very least, I had to weaken you a bit before taking a shot.”

At some point, Aiden was standing right next to Katia, holding his revolver.

The divine power within Katia’s body acted as both her sword and shield.

Its source was her heart—the origin of all supernatural abilities.

That’s exactly what Aiden was aiming for.

The Hellfire Bomb was meant to briefly weaken the divine protection that fiercely guarded it.

Although Katia had regenerated her body dozens of times, the strain on her was evident, as the flames surrounding her had noticeably weakened.

“You know…”

Katia looked at Aiden with genuine disbelief in her voice.

“You go through all that preparation, only to end it with a toy like that?”

Even so, despite having taken a direct hit from the Hellfire Bomb without a scratch, no one would believe that a mere bullet would do any real damage to Katia.

Compared to the massive explosion earlier, Aiden standing in front of her with a small firearm seemed utterly insignificant.

But,

“Well, we’ll see.”

Aiden sighed as he pulled back the hammer of the revolver.

“I think this will be enough.”

Noel furrowed her brow, feeling an odd sense of déjà vu.

She had seen something like this twice before, and the impression had been so strong it was easy to recall.

This was the feeling she got just before something ‘absurd’ happened with Aiden.

“律 (Ritual), I vow.”

The first blessing was imbued into the trigger.

Pure white qi flowed from his fingers into the mechanism.

“This humble one offers a prayer.”

The second vow was instilled into the barrel.

It was a skill he had copied from Katia, a prayer vow he had never learned properly.

Flames erupted from his body, coiling around the barrel like a serpent.

And finally,

“Orb of light, lotus of heaven, may you shine bright.”

The third incantation was imbued into the bullet.

This was a sacred technique he had recently acquired.

It was the final condition to fully enchant the weapon.

Of course, it was still incomplete since he couldn’t yet impose the ‘restriction.’

‘What a hassle.’

Because of that, he was about to do something rather risky.

Restrictions strengthened the power of a skill the more difficult they were to fulfill.

The intensity of qi, the heat of divine power, and the difficulty of the restriction determined the minimum output of any supernatural ability.

Aiden’s pure white qi was indeed powerful.

The primordial vow was an incredible ability.

But that alone wasn’t enough to break through the seemingly endless source of supernatural power that was overwhelming Noel.

Unless he could find another ability to match the two he had already copied.

Of course, that was impossible.

Compared to the unique skills drawn from the main scenario’s protagonist, Aiden’s sacred technique had no special traits.

But,

He knew of a way to make it special.

※ Proficiency with the ‘Omniscient Skill’ rapidly increases. An alien attribute has been granted.

※ Only ‘unique’ restrictions can be defined. Any other method is invalid. However, once the conditions are met, the skill will transform.

There was one unique restriction no one else possessed, something that immediately came to mind.

“And so, I…”

In this situation, there was only one vow Aiden could make to the god of ascension.

A vow unlike any other in the world.

A vow only one person, in the ‘original story,’ had ever made to Urgan.

“…will save the world.”

The vow belonging to the protagonist, who wasn’t here.

!! System Message !!

[‘Universal Ability: Sacred Power’ has been transformed into ‘Savior’s Vow’!]

[The enchantment has succeeded. Weapon power has increased!]

As the message appeared, power surged into the bullet.

The energy coursed through the entire revolver, fusing into a single force, and as it fully converged, Aiden pulled the trigger.

“You’ve got to be kidding!”

Even Noel, in a rare moment, cursed under her breath at the horrific force that shot out of the revolver, leaving a comet-like trail as it barreled toward Katia.

The impact shattered her body into pieces.

For the first time, blood, which had never flowed from her before, splattered in all directions.

Round 148

“It’s a bit nerve-wracking.”

Orie muttered, trying hard to calm her excited heart.

Next to her, Ino Junichi was bowing his head politely with his hands clasped together.

“Gulp.”

He was so nervous that he couldn’t even open his mouth.

Seeing them like this, Jae-seong smiled warmly.

“You don’t have to be so nervous.”

“I can’t believe I’m entering Mr. Lee Kyu-seong’s dungeon, no, nest? No, workspace? Anyway, such a precious place.”

At Junichi’s flustered state, Jae-seong realized once again how amazing his brother was.

‘My brother is incredible.’

These days, living in Japan, he was truly feeling Ino Junichi’s reputation.

But seeing such an important figure being intimidated by his brother was bewildering.

Who wouldn’t feel that way?

Discovering that a seemingly ordinary family member you’ve lived with all your life is actually extraordinary isn’t easy to accept immediately.

Of course, he always respected him as a brother, but his social status was another story.

“Oh? He’s coming out!”

Orie pointed to the dungeon entrance covered by a curtain.

Peeking out from behind the curtain was Ara.

“Hahaha. Ara!”

When Jae-seong called out warmly, Ara popped out.

The sight made Orie and Junichi clutch their hearts.

“Eek.”

“W-What is that outfit! It’s so cute… hic.”

Ara was wearing the full body armor of the Tiger King.

Leaving the two in shock behind, Jae-seong squatted down with his arms open.

Ara ran up to him without saying a word and hugged him tightly.

“Have you been well?”

“Yes!”

As Ara rubbed her face against him, she looked up with sparkling eyes and said,

“Will you cook for us?”

“Of course!”

“Yay!”

“Where is Kyu-seong?”

“He’ll be out soon!”

As soon as she finished speaking, Kyu-seong came out, drawing back the curtain.

Until then, everyone who had been focused on Ara turned to greet Kyu-seong.

“Ah, Mr. Kyu-seong! It’s been a while. How have you been?”

Junichi quickly ran over to greet Kyu-seong, who flinched slightly at the sight of the huge man but greeted him nonetheless.

“Yes, I’ve been well. How about you, Junichi?”

“Absolutely! I’ve been enjoying my days researching alcohol with the ingredients you sent. I’ve even completed my next creation and brought it here!”

Ah, so that was a pocket of subspace.

Kyu-seong was more surprised by the pocket than the alcohol coming out of Junichi’s pocket.

‘As expected, a level 8 awakener.’

Seeing the alcohol, Kyu-seong just nodded awkwardly.

“Thank you as always. I only send ingredients, though…”

“Those ingredients make up 90%, no, 99.9% of this alcohol!”

“…Junichi, your Korean is quite good.”

It was rare to hear a Japanese person use Korean fractions and decimals correctly.

“Mr. Kyu-seong.”

Orie approached and bowed.

“Thank you very much for inviting us today.”

“No problem!”

Speaking awkwardly in each other’s languages, Jae-seong laughed heartily like a bear.

“Well, let’s go in now.”

“Let’s go! Delicious food awaits!”

At Kyu-seong’s gesture, Ara took the lead and guided them.

Jae-seong and Orie found her cute, while Junichi followed with a tense expression.

Grrrr.

Surrounded by Junichi’s aura, Orie finally spoke up.

“Mr. Junichi, please restrain yourself a bit…”

“Kyu-seong’s dungeon! Aaah!”

***

The Infinite Dungeon.

Most of this place had already been organized, leaving little to see. The only things left were a garden on the first floor and three Rookie slimes.

“Oh? It’s quite empty now. What happened, brother?”

“There was something I couldn’t tell you. I’ll show you today.”

Jae-seong, who had left for Japan before visiting the Dungeon of Gluttony, looked at Kyu-seong in surprise.

‘Where were all the crops he had been sending coming from?’

Junichi and Orie were also amazed by the existence of the Infinite Dungeon, but the scenery was different from what they had expected, causing them to tilt their heads in confusion.

“Hmm, the garden is smaller than I thought.”

“It’s amazing that so many crops came from such a place.”

In response to Junichi and Orie’s remarks, Ara stepped forward proudly.

“This is not the end!”

“Not the end?”

Seeing Ara speak proudly with her hands on her hips, Jae-seong tilted his head in confusion while Orie was at a loss.

“What is she saying? Does she want to be held?”

“She says this is not the end.”

As they interpreted her words, Ara began to walk forward confidently.

“Follow me!”

Her tail, attached to her tiger pajamas, swayed as if it were alive. Orie, once again at a loss, followed her, while Junichi examined the dungeon carefully, full of admiration.

“Mr. Kyu-seong.”

“Yes, yes.”

“From my experience, Mr. Kyu-seong’s crop yield has been quite substantial. I’ve always wondered about the labor involved. It seemed mysterious that you managed to cultivate so many crops by yourself…”

“You’ll understand once you see it.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Finally, they arrived at the entrance to the Dungeon of Gluttony. The sudden appearance of the door surprised Junichi, Orie, and Jae-seong.

“Let’s go!”

Kyu-seong and Ara opened the door and entered first. The group that followed was momentarily frozen by the drastically changed scenery.

“Was this place always here? Wow.”

Jae-seong bent down and touched the grass calmly. Junichi and Orie, regaining their composure, spoke up.

“Is this what a dungeon usually looks like?”

“…No. This place is special.”

A dual dungeon.

Even Junichi, a first-generation awakener, had only experienced such a place once. This was the first time it had appeared inside the Infinite Dungeon.

“A dual dungeon that maintains itself infinitely?!”

Normally, dungeons disappear after being cleared. However, this dual dungeon, existing within the Infinite Dungeon, was a result of a series of special circumstances, creating an extraordinary situation.

“This is our home!”

“Welcome. This is the real deal. It’s Jae-seong’s first time too, right?”

At Kyu-seong and Ara’s words, Junichi, breaking free from his thoughts, looked around.

The dreamlike dark purple sky filled with stars, the unfamiliar plants, and the trees in the distance made it feel like they had entered a dream.

Moreover, what about the weather?

It was a cozy temperature, neither hot nor cold. It seemed like it would be perfectly fine to just lie down on the grass and take a nap.

“It’s fortunate that winter just ended.”

“…Does this dungeon have seasons?”

“Yes. I’ve only experienced winter, but they say it also has summer.”

“When you say ‘they say,’ does that mean you heard it from someone else?”

“That’s right. There are also natives here.”

Junichi, who was roughly estimating the size, was slightly surprised by Kyu-seong’s words that there were seasons and even natives here.

He looked around again but didn’t see any monsters. Of course, as a level 8 awakener, he had nothing to fear from monsters, but he was increasingly curious about how Kyu-seong was farming.

-Bark!

A dog ran up, and a wolf approached cautiously. Seeing his familiars greeting them as always, Kyu-seong welcomed them, and Jae-seong asked,

“Are these new guys, brother?”

“Yeah. You liked dogs, right? Come play with Woofy sometimes.”

“Is the dog’s name Woffy?”

“Yeah. Ara named it.”

Orie and Jae-seong, who knew nothing, petted the playful Woffy happily. However, Junichi was just staring blankly at the increasingly incomprehensible situation.

‘A ghost horse, a fire wolf… So, Mr. Kyu-seong’s ability wasn’t related to farming but taming!’

Although everything seemed natural, Ara was also a familiar. Moreover, there were always slimes by Kyu-seong’s side.

In the end, Junichi could only conclude that Kyu-seong’s ability was related to monster taming.

‘So, he’s using monsters for farming too!’

While coming up with plausible deductions, the group started walking somewhere. After walking for about ten minutes, they soon discovered a village.

Squish?

Dozens of slimes were wandering around like villagers. And they welcomed the new visitors to their village.

Squish!

Gloop!

“This, this is…”

Numerous slimes, each with a different appearance.

The village didn’t only have slimes.

There were also sluggishly moving slimes and, for some reason, a few Alfheim visitors.

The beautifully maintained village scenery and all these situations captivated the group’s attention and minds.

“Welcome. This is our slime village. Most of my crops are also farmed here.”

“Are these the natives?”

“No. We created this village. If you’re asking if the slimes are natives, that’s not it either. They are my familiars.”

Jae-seong eagerly translated for Orie. Then, Orie, who didn’t know much about the awakening industry, just kept nodding and admiring.

But Junichi was different.

“Is this… paradise?”

“It’s not such a grand place.”

“Are there any dangerous monsters…”

“No. It’s a safe place.”

Having worked in the awakening industry for almost 30 years, Junichi, who had spent more than half of his life in this field, let out a hollow laugh at this unprecedented experience.

“Dungeons are indeed full of mysteries. No matter how much you explore, there’s always more.”

“That’s their charm.”

“I’m truly at a loss for words to express my gratitude to Mr. Kyu-seong for showing and inviting us to such a place. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Just take good care of Jae-seong for us.”

Meanwhile, Ara stepped forward and beckoned everyone to follow.

“I will guide you through the village!”

Having done this several times before, Ara began the tour quite skillfully. Meanwhile, Jae-seong, Junichi, and Orie were thoroughly enjoying this unique experience, exclaiming in admiration.

“Wow! It feels like a theme park! Did you create all of this yourself?”

“Each building has its own purpose. This one is a hat storage?”

“Wow! A crop storage! This should be designated a national treasure!”

After touring all the buildings, including the storage and living spaces for the slimes, they all looked at Kyu-seong and Ara with excitement.

“Ha! Ha! Ha! How do you like it?”

“It’s amazing!”

At first, Jae-seong didn’t understand why the remarkable Junichi was so cautious around Kyu-seong, but now he understood clearly.

‘An enormous amount of harvest!’

Since becoming an awakener, Jae-seong could see the effects of items directly and realized their rarity. Yet, here, those precious items were scattered around in storage.

“And over there is the final stop: our field.”

“A field!!”

Junichi’s excitement peaked.

The field, once covered with leaf houses and metal frames, was now clear, with lush crops and those ready for harvest spread out beautifully.

“Wow…”

“…It’s so vast…”

The expansive field struck the three with awe. As a chef, a gourmet, and an awakener, this was a breathtaking sight.

“Shall we take a look around the field?”

“Yes!!”

They had completely forgotten the original purpose of their visit and were just enjoying themselves. However, Kyu-seong felt proud seeing their delighted faces.

There’s a saying, “Even Mount Geumgang looks better after a meal,” but honestly, food tastes best when you’re hungry.

“Since you’re all here, why not experience farming too?”

Kyu-seong planned to make use of his visitors, or rather guests, to help with the harvest. After all, food tastes even better after hard work, right?

A-class fighter Balam.

Among fighters ranging from F-class to A-class, he was considered one of the top in terms of combat ability.

It was just an ordinary day for him, relaxing with a drink at a pub he often visited, as there was no scheduled duel.

Until a nobleman appeared before his eyes.

The nobleman, dressed opulently without trying to conceal his wealth, was strolling through the city for the first time.

Unsurprisingly, he got caught by Adigo and his gang. Adigo, an A-class fighter of a higher rank.

Even then, it still felt like just another ordinary day. Balam had seen Adigo extort money or goods from merchants or nobles who wandered into the colony several times before.

“Look at those fancy clothes. Jackpot.”

“We’ll make some good money off this one.”

The fighters beside Balam chatted casually as they watched the nobleman surrounded by Adigo’s gang. None of the fighters in the pub or nearby shops had any intention of helping the nobleman. Even though there was another A-class fighter present, they simply watched Adigo robbing the noble with lazy, indifferent eyes, taking no action.

It was only natural. There was nothing to gain from helping that nobleman. Even if the noble offered immediate payment in return for assistance, none of the fighters would step forward. No one was foolish enough to cross Adigo’s gang, or more precisely, the monster Malian, who backed Adigo.

The fighters knew that Adigo’s arrogance came from his belief in Malian, the monstrous Babayaga, so they all quietly drank their beer, using the situation before them as mere entertainment.

Then, when Adigo lightly smacked the nobleman’s head—

Boom!

Something extraordinary happened.

“Start talking.”

A sudden appearance. One of the four Babayagas in the colony.

“Hey.”

The atmosphere cracked with electricity as Seolrang, the Golden Flash, appeared. Lightning, her signature, crackled around her body.

“Which bastard…?”

Adigo, who had been knocked into the wall, stood up confidently but was left confused by Seolrang’s sudden entrance.

“S-Seolrang?”

Mumbling in disbelief, it was as if he couldn’t comprehend the situation, though he recognized the person standing before him.

However—

“What did you do to my Master?”

At Seolrang’s following words, Adigo’s expression shifted from confusion to terror.

“Arrrgh!?”

Before he could react, Seolrang grabbed Adigo’s head and slammed it to the ground.

Crack!

The fighters could hear the chilling sound reverberating in their ears.

But it didn’t end there. Seolrang, with a cold expression, grabbed Adigo’s leg and flung him aside.

Crash!

Adigo was hurled into the pub. As he scrambled to get back up, he tried to speak.

“W-Wait, I didn’t kno—”

Crack!

Seolrang grabbed his head again and smashed it into the counter.

“For real!”

Over and over.

“Aaagh!”

Over and over.

“If you keep doing this, my boss will—”

Over and over.

“P-Please spare—”

Crack!

Silence.

All the fighters watched, their mouths shut, staring at the wreckage of the pub. Even the owner, who should have been angry about the damage, stood there trembling, holding his breath in terror. A customer, seated at a shattered table, remained frozen, holding a heavy mug of beer.

And then—

Thud!

Seolrang, covered in blood, finally released Adigo’s head without a trace of interest. At that moment, all the fighters present shuddered in awe. Her speed was beyond their perception, and the way she effortlessly handled an A-class fighter like a mere underling left them in reverence.

As Seolrang, who hadn’t even broken a sweat, glanced at the trembling thugs surrounding Alon—

Boom! Crackle!

In the blink of an eye, she had sent them all flying. They crashed into walls and windows, convulsing before going limp.

The fighters, who had witnessed Seolrang show no mercy and crush every opponent without emotion in the Coliseum, shuddered as they watched the Golden Flash, who had become a Babayaga, once again.

“Master! You’re here!? You should’ve told me!”

Before anyone realized it, Seolrang, who was now smiling brightly and playfully wagging her golden tail, wrapped her arm around Alon’s. Everyone around her froze for a moment.

“I’ve been waiting so long for Master to arrive! I prepared a lot of things, so let’s go quickly!”

Regardless of the fighters’ confusion, Seolrang, still wagging her tail and grinning, pulled Alon along and started moving somewhere. As Seolrang and the nobleman disappeared into the distance, the fighters watching were left with a bewildering question:

“Who is that guy…? Who could make that mad dog…?”

They were left wondering who the nobleman was, the one Seolrang referred to as her Master.

However, Alon, who was being dragged by the blood-covered Seolrang, was just as bewildered as the fighters. Despite feeling grateful and oddly proud, he couldn’t help but wonder,

‘Am I… not going to die?’

***

Since Alon arrived at the colony well into the afternoon, by the time Seolrang led him to a particular building, the sun was already setting.

“This is it!”

Following Seolrang, who perked her ears up and entered the building, Alon thought to himself quietly, ‘It’s big.’

As he stared blankly at the building, which rose more than nine stories high—unlike most others in the area—he heard Evan’s admiring voice beside him.

“Wow, it’s huge.”

Although it didn’t have the vast feel of Deus’ mansion, tall buildings were rare in this city, making the contrast more striking.

After entering the building with Evan and Seolrang, they headed straight for the top floor.

“Ah, Boss, you’re back.”

“Boss!”

As they approached the top floor, they passed several beastfolk who greeted Seolrang with stiff salutes, all of them, like Seolrang, having golden hair.

“Boss, welcome back.”

When they finally reached the top floor, another beastfolk, who seemed to have been waiting at the door, greeted them with a bow. This one also had golden hair but bore a long scar across one side of his face.

“Yeah, nothing happened, right?”

“Nothing at all.”

Seolrang smiled cheerfully as she chatted and opened the door, walking inside. Alon and Evan followed her in.

While entering, Alon felt the gaze of the beastfolk standing at the door, and as he was about to look back—

“It seems a bit different from the rumors.”

“Rumors?”

Alon couldn’t help but show a puzzled expression at Evan’s remark.

Evan, looking ahead at Seolrang, explained, “Yeah, I’ve heard that Seolrang doesn’t have the best reputation.”

“How so?”

“They say she has an extremely cruel personality. They call her the Mad Dog, I think? Though I’ve also heard that she treats her own kind a bit more gently.”

“…Seolrang?”

Alon glanced over at Seolrang.

“Master! You can sit here!”

Seolrang, wagging her tail excitedly, was already sitting cross-legged on a mat she had prepared in her office. She patted the top seat of the mat energetically.

‘…That earlier scene was kind of terrifying.’

Alon briefly recalled the earlier violent outburst from Seolrang, but seeing her now grinning so brightly, he just shrugged and sat down.

With that, the real conversation with Seolrang began.

***

In truth, Alon had been somewhat worried about how he would carry on a conversation with Seolrang. Although his previous conversation with Deus had ended well, Seolrang was unpredictable, and he wasn’t sure how things would unfold with her.

However, contrary to Alon’s concerns—

“Great!”

“…What?”

“Great!”

—The conversation with Seolrang turned out to be, in some ways, even easier than with Deus, leaving Alon a bit bewildered.

“Did you really listen to everything I said?”

“Yeah! And you can speak casually with me!”

Seolrang spoke energetically. Even now, she couldn’t seem to sit still. While still cross-legged, she casually placed her hands on the ground and began to do a handstand.

Watching her with a blank expression, Alon commented, “Still, don’t you have a lot to think about? I’ve heard you’re running a guild as well.”

During their brief conversation, Alon learned that, aside from becoming a Babayaga in the colony, Seolrang had also gathered others of their kind and formed a guild, prompting him to ask:

“Hmm…”

Seolrang, now in an odd handstand position, seemed to ponder for a moment.

“It’s fine!”

“…Really?”

“Yes! Even if we’re not family, you’re my Master!”

Seolrang’s enthusiastic response left Alon nodding a bit awkwardly, but deep down, he felt the same sense of pride he had when dealing with Deus. After all, he hadn’t expected Seolrang to go so far to help him, especially since he hadn’t been in contact or even sent a letter.

‘Honestly, I didn’t expect her to help this much.’

From Alon’s perspective, it wasn’t a bad thing to receive such help. He continued their conversation, feeling a paternal warmth growing in his heart. They talked about many things, though most of it was nothing particularly special. Alon asked about how Seolrang had been, sharing stories about Deus, while Seolrang told him about her life in the colony.

Then, as if something had come to mind, Seolrang spoke with a sigh.

“Thanks to you, I was able to gather the scattered members of our tribe!”

“…Because of me?”

“Yep, look!”

Seolrang smiled brightly and showed the glove she wore on her right hand, which Alon quickly recognized as an essence of the Golden Mane Tribe.

“I see.”

‘So there really was something to the saying that meeting the Golden Mane Tribe unlocks their true power.’

Alon began to understand why Seolrang had a favorable view of him. As they continued talking for a bit longer, Seolrang suddenly shifted the topic.

“Come to think of it, the desert is quite dangerous.”

“Hmm? Why’s that?”

Seolrang tilted her head in curiosity at Evan’s remark.

“We were attacked.”

“…Attacked?”

“Yeah.”

At the word “attack,” Seolrang’s cheerful smile momentarily froze, but Alon nodded in agreement with Evan.

“We were ambushed by the Blood Sand Bandits, even though we moved during the daytime, when they’re usually not active.”

“Really? They’re some bad guys… aren’t they?”

“They’re definitely not people I’d want to meet again.”

Alon shrugged as he recalled the incident and looked at Seolrang. She seemed to be trying to mask her earlier serious expression with her usual carefree smile. After a bit more conversation, Seolrang spoke up again.

“Anyway, for now, take some rest! You must be tired from coming all the way here, right?”

With that, Seolrang gave Alon and Evan each a room just below the top floor. After settling them in, she returned to the top floor and, with a smile, spoke softly.

“Ralga.”

“Yes.”

Ralga, the beastfolk with a scar on his face, appeared instantly at her call.

“Where are those bad guys?”

“The Blood Sand Bandits have set up camp to the northeast, but there’s something else I should mention.”

“What is it?”

“As far as I know, the Blood Sand Bandits are backed by Kalman, one of the other three Babayagas.”

Ralga’s words carried a tone of concern.

“Really? But still—”

Despite the information, Seolrang merely wagged her tail once, showing no sign of hesitation.

“Messing with my Master is not allowed.”

Her response indicated that the news about Kalman would not change her course of action in the slightest.

“If he finds out, I’ll definitely get scolded, you know?”

Muttering quietly to herself, so softly that even Ralga couldn’t hear, she gazed toward the northeast.

“Anyway, just wait here.”

—With a deadly serious expression, her golden eyes flashing ominously, she continued—

“I’ll kill them all.”

And with that, she vanished, leaving behind a crackling golden flash.
